Anybody who just witnessed the spectacular Ziltoid sections from Devin's tour in Australia will surely agree that those songs were absolutely CRUSHING live!!!
It was an absolutely amazing experience to say the least! The MUCH clearer samples, more defined guitars, and Ryan on drums gave the songs a completely new and PUNISHING vibe, whilst still retaining the same 'essence' of the original. Even the 'mellower' songs were simply amazing live.
Whereas rerecording the whole album would be a lengthy process and we all know Devin has huge commitments in the next couple of years (Deconstruction, Ghost...and not to mention a fuckload of touring), a basic remix/remaster of Ziltoid with fresh live drums by Ryan would be a relatively 'simple' task in comparison, i mean while devin is recording one of his upcoming projects maybe Ryan could record drums during that time? ...and i believe it could be one of the greatest concept albums of the last 20 years!....it would definitely be a great way to bridge the gap between now and the next Ziltoid record (Z2?). Devy's fanbase i'm sure would further continue to expand ten-fold!
Personally i was never that great a fan of Ziltoid, i thought the music was great!, but the drum machine brought across a very 'mechanical' vibe in my honest opinion...and the songs have NOWHERE NEAR the same jaw-dropping moments and sheer power that they did live. I feel so honored to have been there to experience my 'awakening' to ziltoid.
So anyway, i think a basic remix/remaster of Ziltoid with live drums would be ABSOLUTELY KILLER!!!
Anybody who agrees please reply!
