Must admit, the re-master wasn't exactly a huge change, but the liner notes made me understand the album so much more! Just reading that made me connect with the album on a much deeper level, so on those grounds, it is cool. Plus you can actually read the lyrics on this version too :P

Is it a jewel case or a digipack? I just saw very luxurious reissues of The Gathering and Tiamat albums (both on Century Media as well) in a local store: multi-panel, interleaved with transparent pages and liner notes... yummy.

Standard jewel case.

the gathering have their own label too, might be that they had or asked for more influence in that thing.

mind you, for a digipak you might have to expand/stretch the coverart. but I guess someone like mircea (who did both syl rereleases) would be able to get such a thing done also.

and after all mircea did a good job in the way he did it. you just shouldnt directly compare it to the original cause these things cant be fair. i dont like everything he did with it, but generally its a cool job i think.

The renewed coverart for HAARHT was pretty horrible though.

I was talking about a rerelease of an album on Century Media, of course. Nighttime Birds.

The liner notes stuff sounds like a really harsh time for Dev. How lucky for us all that it all came together so well.
All hail the SYL

I was walking through a local music store today, and saw the City reissue. Considering I hadn't made it around to City yet, I bought it and it now joins my other two SYL albums (Alien and HAARHT). The album is quite tasty, with "Underneath the Waves" coming in as my favorite track.
