So you suggest we just do away with music reviewing altogether?

Honestly, a good reviewer should first reflect what is good or bad about the music itself and must be able to approach ANY music as unbiased and capable of seeing both sides of the coin. This involves having a good understanding of what it takes to write said music, what others are saying about it, and lastly, if it fits your own preferences, to give the review a personal touch. Too few reviewers truly understand this and treat it like "Look at me and my opinions, they're so superior".

Re Lords of Metal....'several disappointing albums'???? WTF??? What albums are they referring to?

No idea...but that's the trouble with reviewers....it's only THIER opinion (which is wrong... 8) )

There's no such thing as a 'wrong' opinion.

There is, however, very much such a thing as an ill informed, uneducated opinion.....

^Cool finds.

Nice to see such positive feedback. The haters seem to be among the small minority.

My Ki Review:20/10. Yes, 20 out of 10 possible points. I've been a huge Hevy Devy fan since I heard Accelerated Evolution and ALien. As soon as I heard those albums I felt touched by Dev's sweet anghellic/demonic satanic ball crushing tone in his voice as well as his guitar. Love everything he does, from producing records to making them to guest appearences on other artist's/musician's albums to having an entire Hevy Devy album, there's just something about Mr. Townsend that makes me just want to push the repeat all button on my iPod. Constantly hearing the Ki album ever since I bought it has seriously gotten me to be inspired to write my own music again, and I thank Dev for that. Despite what people may/may not say about Devin, I think he's a fucking musical genius and I can't wait for the 3 installments to his 4 album series and I can certainly fucking hope that I get to see my idol perform in front of me, then I can die a happy, nerdy 19 year old with his weird obsession with his music. And to add on the downloading of Ki, one of my closest friends did that and I felt betrayed when he told me he did. Once we listened to the entire thing and I told him he should delete it from his computer, so he did. And despite this shit-fuck of a recession we are in right now (I live in WA state right now and the recession sucks big time over here) I bought Ki as soon as I obtained some money. Once again, Thanks to the Dev for making yet another master piece and giving me hope on my own music, I can't think him enough for helping me with his music and the joy that it brings into my life. 20 out of fucking 10. Can't wait for the next album. Take care Dev :guitar:

Hey Anthony,

Welcome to the Forums dude! I Just wanted to say I think it's damn cool that you bought the album despite the pressures of the recession. It's going to be easy to take short cuts on things like this (eg. downloading albums) until the economy gets into better shape, but the irony is that it's the act of spending money that will ultimately make that happen. So, if we're going to spend money, it may as well be on something of 5-star quality like a Devin Townsend album! Keep rocking with your own tunes man :guitar:

My review of Ki, really late, but ohwell. Comment or not, read or not, doesn't bother me.
