Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but at about 3 mins 50 seconds into Gato, is that a little homage to The Dark Crystal?

It's been a huge influence on him his whole career. He said that if it wasn't for The Dark Crystal he'd be an accountant today.

Plus he wrote a song called "Skeksis".

Not exactly the same, but quite similar to the motif at 3:51... to my ears, anyway.

Ah yeh I see what you mean, seems pretty obvious now!

Ah Cool:

"The film was shot at Elstree Studios, and exterior scenes were shot in the Scottish Highlands and Twycross, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom."

I used to live 5 minutes away from Elstree Studios, and i now live 15 minutes away from Twycross.

Amazing huh?

Wow I didn't know that, great find! I loved the exterior shots in that film, and the way he managed to fall out of Aughra's observatory and somehow roll all the way to somewhere miles in the distance in particular

I quite fancy sticking it on now...

Two of my tutors made puppets for the film, one of them was creature costumes project leader! And to top that off, Brian Froud's son (Froud being the designer), studied the same course as me 8)

It's one of my favourite films, so when they were showing our group their portfolios, I had great difficulty supressing the tiny squeals of excitement.

I'd definately say Devy's slightly ambiant stuff has a Dark Crystal feel about it...like,fantasy mystical shit.

I know this must seem like absolute blasphemy, but I don't believe I have ever seen The Dark Crystal. If I did, I was really young. Maybe I will have a friend dl-it for me....I am broke.

I love the look and the concept of Dark Crystal but I find it a tad dull, I prefer Labyrinth personally.

I wonder why Dev is so into Dark Cyrstal?
