Oh god damnit, I know dev wouldnt steal melodies like coldplay, but shit. I mean obviously thats a typical progression but still, and it isnt the main melody so I think I can deal with it

Inevitably there will be similarities in any two given songs. I presented a song I recently recorded to a friend and he told me the chords in the chorus were ripped off from an Assemblage 23 song, and damn it, he was right. Even though I hadn't heard the song in months.

Proof of that is in the Youtube discussion for the Satch track - people claiming he's "ripping off" Jimi Hendrix! We're all influenced etc. etc.

We are running out of notes =)

The lead melody in one of my songs sounds almost identrical to a segment of a Niel zaza song wich I had never heard.

Guessing we will have to what M.A.N will do on their next album and start playing with quarter tone instruments =)

The Day That Never Comes by Metallica has a virtually identical intro to the Joey and Dev song too.

the first thing i thought of when hearing ih-ah was that it was a pretty generic chord progression and that i was sure i heard at least a handful of songs that sound very similar to it, though i couldn't think of a specific example. but hey, one generic song out of 300 or so isn't bad.
