One of the most memorable shows I saw there was 04/29/03.. SYL supporting Meshuggah. That was freaking amazing.

Twas a tremendous fucking show. Not sure who I met and who I didn't based on screennames (I'm so sorry guys, screennames sometimes slip my mind) but it was pretty awesome.

Honestly, I needed that show to recharge my batteries after a very very long week.

Had some oddness, made a new friend from craigslist, got to chill and check in with Dev for a couple of minutes, met some more folks, drenched in sweat in the obscene heat outside (94 fuckin degrees in San Francisco. That's about 30 degrees too many for here!)

Oh and hey, any of the folks that I blathered on about the forums to, I hope I didn't come across as a douche, I'm just really proud of the community here, and admittedly post here a lot, but I'm just trying to bolster the Bay Area numbers, because we're a pretty strong Dev fanbase out here, and more of you should post more often.

Think I saw Devy Spelled Devy, but didn't say hey, as my friend was taking off pretty quickly. Chatted for a bit outside with some other folk, oh and to the dude I missed when we went back inside, shoot me an e-mail bro, I'll get you that mevio underground concert!

Now for some photozzzzzzzzz. Unfortunately a lot of my stage shots were too blurry to be usable, but there were PLENTY of folks takin pictures tonight, so expect some great ones soon.

I spoke to the gal who made that hoodie, it's absolutely amazing and Dev put it on for the encore when it was time to kick out the Ziltoid jamzzzzz. The cape is majestic.

Oh and anyone curious about the setlist, here you go 8)

The acoustic setlist was short because it was more of a Q&A, but it was still awesome to hear some of these songs again:
Coast
Ih-Ah
Heart Baby (FREAKING AWESOME STILL)
Terminal (easily my favorite of the acoustic stuff)

And here's the setlist next to some victory pizza after a hard-earned night.

Love ya all, hope to see you at many future shows.

I was right in front, directly to the left of the pole Devy peeked around/grinded against (both front AND back)

I've a ton of video, audio came out amazingly well along with the video, hooray for new phones :) The biggest of the files is 1.9 GB and about 25 minutes long, so will have to chop it up a bit, but I'll post the vids as soon as I can :)

Met up with RVP, Dave, "Bass Frehley" and Dev outside the show and shot the shit for a bit. Myself and my buddy Mike were the -only- ones who stayed around :\ Ah well, was great to see the guys again, Devy's new hoodie ROCKS! and yes, he apparently loves teddy bears and unicorns :P

It wasn't just an incredible show. It was an experience! The VIP acoustic show was totally awesome, with Dev just walking around and playing effortlessly while balancing the songs with a fun Q&A session that was very informative. Dev got pretty involved with a lot of the answers too, haha. I personally asked if he would keep the Devin Townsend Project moniker, and now I have the "Dumb Tiny Penis" inside joke because of it. I had also brought my best friend, and had told Dev about how many times he had listened to Ants. He gave a much more elaborate response to it then I'd ever expect, haha. And the point when he played Terminal, I felt full-on immersion with the experience. I also drew a caricature for him, and gave it to him during the meet-and-greet portion, which he loved and was pretty impressed by the fact that I did it right then and there during the show. This part was already amazing in itself, and well worth the bargain price of $45 per VIP ticket.

Then I had the actual show to look forward to! TesseracT opened up, and they played excellently! I had never heard them before the show, but I was impressed once they played that beast that is the second song. It was plenty of fun, and now I'm probably going to look into getting their EP.

Now for Devin. I had seen him perform at Slim's earlier this year when he was with Scale the Summit, Cynic, and BtBaM, and he easily shined as if he was the headlining band. This time he is the headlining band, and holy crap was I floored. The set-list consisted of many amazing songs that spanned across his entire discography, and all of them were played with excellent energy and every second of it was fucking crushing. All of the songs were heavy as hell, including some of the slower ones, and when things would turn to the softer side, it felt like a wave of relaxation.

Normally that would be enough, but Devin's stage presence is unlike anybody you'll ever see. You don't see the kind of energy that he has on stage in most other bands, and just his antics alone are worth the price of admission. One minute you'll be rocking out and banging your head off, the next you'll be entranced by one of his amazing soft passage, and the next minute you'll die of laughter when he actually "gets frisky" with a support beam. Fucking priceless.

I can go on and on, but essentially, the show was incredible, and definitely the best show I've ever been to. Thanks a bunch Dev! It was amazing!

P.S- Make Ziltoid hoodies! That was epic as hell!

KantQontrolMyself..

I was the dude in the brown shirt next to you guys.. we were talking about references within Devy's music and stuff.. I overheard you talking about working at GA, I did too, so that caught my attention. Anyway, great singing along to all the tunes with ya dude! The show was fucking amazing, and I've still a ton of video to go through here and post :)

Is that the VIP shirt?

Cool to see Roger Waters' The Wall promo thing on stage?

I was at the show last night and Devin really poured his heart into it. One of my favourite concerts ever, despite his Burrito farts during the acoustic set! I met Octillus was was very chill (and subsequently told him my wrong user name.)

My wife made the Ziltoid hoodie; we officially attached the "hair" about 2 hours before the meet and greet. She's an artist and makes awesome stuff like that all the time. Devin seemed to really like it, so perhaps we'll see him wearing it elsewhere on tour 8)

Some photos:

Here is Devin and my wife - she can't believe he was wearing it.

One of all of us. My friend Colin on the left, and me making the mean face standing next to Ziloid.

Here is me modeling the hoodie approximately 2 hours before the concert:
