Considering the problems with his gear it was a good show. The wait for Devins set to start would have been painful if it wasn't for Devin entertaining the crowd.

Did anyone notice byron and Gene at the side of the stage? Byron left after a few songs but Gene stayed, he looked really into it too he was going mad on the air drums to By Your Command :)

I thought I saw him there too, being at the front right I couldn't get a good enough look to be certain.

Fjar wrote:In the past months since DTP were confirmed for BOA, I had come to understand that a live show featuring Devin was the stuff of gods, and major spiritual epiphanies were to be had, and tears were to be shed.

Hey Fjar, no need to worry bout that - I guess maybe your "setting" wasn't perfect, mood etc. AND another issue: As I understand, Deep Peace was not played at Bloodstock, that could be a reason as well.
But it looks like the DTP will be back soon so expect to be more fascinated then :)

I wouldn't say that I had a major spirital epiphany or anything, as I'm not really wired that way, but I thought the first time I saw Devin was absolutely immense (at the Glasgow Garage in 2000), but I think part of that is that I didn't realise he was touring as often as he was back then, and thought that it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

For me, he never disappoints, as his music is so epic, and he has really good stage presence as a front-man, whether solo or as Strapping Young Lad.

I think if you blow it up to the point where you're expecting to see a God in human form though, then you're going to be disappointed, he is just a normal guy after all.

I understand this, I was just amazed to know that people could have such a different view of the same person.

Here's hoping there'll be another opportunity soon, hopefully in a smaller, indoor venue where less goes wrong!!

I just had a blast bellowing along with what seemed like most of the rest of the crowd. Everything's so much better when it's sunny.

I can certainly understand why people think that way. When someone makes music that's so epic and has so much personal meaning for a lot of people, some of them start to project some of that onto the person making the music, rather than seeing them as two seperate entities.

I have to agree with people saying he should have headlined. A lot of people I talked to mentioned that there was a much bigger crowd for Devin than for some of the headliners. A friend of mine who was standing in the Rocksoc tent seemed to think that Devin had gained a lot of new fans that day too, as a lot of people he'd talked to who hadn't heard of him beforehand, and didn't seem that interested, walked away converted.

I felt kind of sorry for Children of Bodom, as there were masses of people chanting Devin's name outside the signing tent at the tail-end of their signing session, hahaha.

Hey guys...

Been a while no? I'll try and make a real effort to get back on the board more often while I'm working here.

Yeah, boa was a bummer for me, everything that could go wrong , did. The crew onstage were total dicks, and we had no gear or sleep, and lots of personal dramas to boot. Considering that, I think we made the 'best' out of a shit situation.

I want to address something here as well that I feel I've addressed several times.

I believe people put too much stock into it as well sometimes. Of course we're just people. We're a good band... but a new band. We have good nights and shit nights.

When people make claims that someone is the best at anything, that destines them for failure. Best singing voice? ...not a chance. SInging is rough, and if I can get in the ballpark at a show, I'm really happy.

I just want to play music and make people happy. Maybe make a buck and pay rent as well...

I choose the best parts of the show to put on youtube, so I think I'm going to see if I can make a clip on some utter shit performances from this past tour and post them too... keep expectations realistic :)

You guys rule, thanks for the support, sorry (again) that I've been so absent here, I'll try and change that now... I look forward to the upcoming club tours!

Dev, you know we love you man. And not in some absurdist hero worship way or anything, just keep on being you and you'll have your support from your fans here on the forum (Sorry to speak for everyone, but I'm pretty sure it's an obvious truth).

As far as the eye opening realization of a lack of demigod presence on stage, well, to be honest I think everyone hits that point with an artist they love, god knows In Flames did it to me like 4 times when they were my favorite band back in the day. When you reach that point, it's a hell of a lot easier to accept the reality that you guys are earnest, hard working, talented, human beings that put on their best show given the circumstances.

As far as your presence on the boards, dude, you've been busy. I mean, I don't think anyone would mind if you came around more often (LAWL), but do what you need to do.

Don't ever insult the legend! Everyone should have bowed everytime he approached the mic, nevermind cheered!

Definitely one of the top sets of the festival for me.

Egzackly!

If you havn't seen them already, my videos of the show are on http://www.youtube.com/jamesgod08 . I caught pretty much all devs great entertainment before the show started. Didn't get any pics of them but here is a pic of the clouds shortly after their set

I have to say, being able to play a good show despite the shit that they had to go through is a sign of a true professional. The fact that it propably wasn't among their best shows of the tour should be expected given the problems... But actually looking at the admittely low quality vids posted by GaiaTimesInfinity... It seems to me that he and the band were as good as ever. Unbelievable tbh!
