SO STOKED for this show tomorrow. I will be sharing my thoughts here tomorrow.

You'll find me there. It's going to be tough cuz I have to leave work but I imagine I'll be inventive. Hoping to meet Dev wandering around.

just got back from the show it was fucking amazing! It was everything i had hoped it would be. My only complaint is that DTP's set seemed very short only like 6 or so songs worth. In any case, it was well worth the money and i hope that he does some more touring when the next 2 albums come out.

What was DTP's setlist like?

The show wasn't too great for me. Unfortunately, the Devin contingent this night consisted of a bunch of 16 year olds acting like idiots in the front row pushing and shoving everyone who was ALSO trying to enjoy his set. Me and my friend has to retire to the back to avoid being bothered. The opening band was torture for me as I don't wish to listen to kids playing shred solos and wanking onstage for a half hour. zzzzzzz
Anyway, Dev was great, just didn't enjoy the setlist too much. No Terria, No Ocean Machine.

I enjoyed the show greatly, but I know what you are talking about. Some of those fans were going ape shit and being disruptive. I was very happy with the set list though.

Yeah Dev himself was great, but holy shit I wanted to destroy some of those kids. They were all part of the "Devin is literally Jesus Christ" crew which is really annoying.

Seeing Devin live though was amazing to say the least. Shows where he's playing his solo material have been so rare in the past that having him play Kingdom right in front of my stupid face was something else. I normally don't hold artists to such high regard (they're just people) but Devin was just fucking incredible. I'm so glad he's establishing himself with this music instead of SYL because it seems to bring out the best in him. He's no longer acts that crazy fuck you wouldn't wanna be alone with, instead he's just a hilarious dude who's really good at making you shit your pants out of laughter and respect. Devin totally stole the show too, people who had never heard him before were screaming for an encore and saying things like "That band was so fucking incredible, I don't even want BTBAM to play anymore I just want them to come back on!". This tour seems like it is just the start of an awesome future for Devin, and that makes me very happy.

I went and saw the show with my dad after driving 4 hours to get there.
The organization of the venue sucked, and there wasn't a way to buy merchandise or refreshments in line like it should have. I'm lucky I even got in, I didn't order tickets ahead of time but I was only about number 11 in line to buy tickets. They could have made a lot more money if the organization were better, by the time I got in the show began and I didn't bother buying merchandise.

As for the show:

Scale the Summit was an interesting group to listen to, but they would have been so much better with a powerful singer. It was hard to adapt to their style, even though they sound like almost every progressive metal band except without vocals. I stood behind a smelly fuck close to the stage, and recorded some of it, like I always do with everything in my life.

Then Devin Townsend came on. The event I was waiting for. It was an amazing show, the goofy attitude of Devin combined with his fantastic vocals and guitar playing along with the hard work of the rest of the crew, that I'm to ignorant to know the names of except for Osama Bin Laden who was closest to me and did an excellent job. Best band of the whole night, I just wish the set list would have been longer. Being the event that I had been waiting so long to see, I didn't get aggressive as I saw some other people doing. I wanted to listen and watch, I even recorded a little bit of it. I regret not getting any footage of Kingdom, however. Since Physicist is my all time favorite Dev album.

Cynic was decent, besides the fact that pretty much all I could hear was the drummer. I could literally touch the drum set, and I managed to ask the drummer if I could have a drink of his water when they were done with the show.

BTBAM was the band I least wanted to see. Could never get into their music, but I hoped seeing them live would change my mind. But since I wasn't to excited about them anyway, I just stood up front headbanging the music away. Though the songs were so lengthy, I almost didn't want the encore. But being the trooper I am, I helped with the encore even though by then my neck was sore. But it was awesome to see a drunk moron fall backwards and getting security to take him away because he was messing with the bassists foot pedal. Pretty fucked up thing to do, but it added to my amusement.

Then I saw Avatar on imax. This was actually the highlight of my weekend, even though Devin's performance was ace.

The show was flawless performance (though sound is not best right at the stage). Good amount of Dev fans which was good to see. Devin was enthusiastic on stage and engaged the crowd well. The other band members were excellent as well and Ryan a machine as usual. The other guitarist and bassist maybe could have been more into it. They just kind of stood and played. They did well no doubt.

It may not mean anything to anybody after waiting so long to post to this, but honestly it was exactly what I needed that night.
I agree the dude who stripped to his BVD's wasn't exactly what I wanted to see, but it was. I was more shitted out that most of the audience didn't seem into the music as much as Dev wished they were. I understand that most of us just wanted to see the show, but I as a 27 something wanted to explode in that claustrophobic atmosphere. Especially because FUCK Dev was doing his own gear set up. I've been to a lot of shows, and call me naive or unexperienced, but someone of Dev's caliber being modest enough to interact with the crowd and sound check his own shit in a tiny club with poor management in TEMPE, AZ really made me respect the man more. I as a UNDERGROUND HIP HOP musician see this as a testament to his craft and admire his ability to get back down to his roots.

Again I say I may be naive, only because this is my first Devin show. I'M WAY into heavy metal and I felt like I missed out on years of my own life by missing out on the years that Devin put out some insanly beautiful chaotic sonic communication. I took my nephew barely turning 13 to that show, and he LOVES ziltoid. The highlight of his night was hearing "by his command". I'm drunk ignore the accuaracy of my details. But what I can say about that is that evening is that, I'm grateful for a memory. I am also glad to be motivated by that memory as a musician. Especially after hearing most of the douches in line just trying to make the scene for no good reason, but realistically I am happy those douches were there. They allowed me to remember the show I paid to see, and also allow Dev to do what he loves and maybe win some convoluted minds into the fold that I imagine we all share.
