Then there's "It's just another mountain" from Terria.

Lot of it about, clearly.

If you sit in a mountain which flies over just another mountain, while being like the mountain, maybe it would work.
I dunno, just throwing ideas out there.

Ghost is very easy, flowing past like a cloud. At parts like Angelo Badalamenti in Twin Peaks. And the flute and general feeling has a lot of Deuter in there as well (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deuter). Can't remember if Dev had listened to Deuter or not, though. Anyone remember?

Two things.

1. Thanks for turning me onto Deuter, very cool stuff!!

2. I get a hint of Badalamenti, more of The Lost Highway, though. There was a making of thing on it, and David & Angelo were working on a song for it, it was very beautiful with this woman singing on it. Here's the link:

I see something about the haunting/beautiful thing in Ghost. A little happier, though.

What an incredible link. Geniouses at work. Thanks!

I guess I always think of Julee Cruise from Twin Peaks fame when I hear high-pitched ethereal female singing but yeah, the Lost Highway stuff is basically the same thing. That sort of stuff is all over Lynch's production. Blue Velvet comes to mind as third example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBoXNket2pQ&feature=related

I love that video, glad I could spread it around a bit!!

I'll try not to clog up this thread with Lynch talk, but I'll say this:
Lynch is a genius, in terms of his work philosophy and his work quality. Same goes for Badalamenti, for being able to create with Lynch. (Another cool Lynch nugget is the Industrial Symphony, Micheal Anderson did such a killer job in that!!) Anyway, Lynch always knows what to do with the high pitched ethereal singing in all of his work. I loved it Mullholland Dr., too.

I stop babbling about David Lynch now!!

:)

In my lyrics, I like to think I'm not advising anything, just putting words to music that seem appropriate.

Drive over the mountain maybe? Thats where we're at in the bus currently...

although unintended, I would say that "fly over the mountain" is pretty good advice though - much preferable to flying into it anyway...I can see a nice little side earner here - making soundtracks for pilot school instructional materials

Hmm. Nice song to drive to, actually. Especially in the mountains of PA (which are beautiful, kind of miss my home). :(

Awesome.

Everyone, if you really like GHOST you should check into Hearts of Space (http://www.hos.com). I'm mentioning this mainly for people who are not already familiar with artists like Deuter, Klaus Schulze, Kitaro, Stephen Halpern, VidnaObmana, Vangelis (surely you've heard of Vangelis?!), Patrick O'Hearn, Jonn Serrie, Constance Demby, Steve Roach, etc... HoS is a great way to explore the vast and wonderful world of ambient/space music. I'm not affiliated with them, just a happy long-time customer...

Meanwhile, Dev, perhaps you should send them a copy of GHOST, it would be great to hear one of your tracks in one of their programs. Might get you some exposure and new fans too. :D

So what you're saying is... doesn't matter what you do, just make sure a mountain is involved and it'll all be OK. I can dig!

Steve Roach's "Mystic Chords and Sacred Spaces" (super hippy title!!) is one of my favourite albums ever.
Not really "spacey" but Biosphere's Substrata is also incredible. :)

Look at the spine of a DTP album. There's a piece of the DTP logo.

My Deco/Ghost bundle's (InsideOut pressing) spines don't have those DTP symbol pieces... :?
It's no big deal, but I was a bit surprised to find the spines lacking the symbols. I first thought it could have been because of a different distributor, but I kinda doubt it since I got a HDR pressing of Ki and InsideOut Addicted and they both have the symbol quarter on the spine.
