the new Album is even better. Just check their site once in a while and I'm sure they'll post a new song sometime soon.

Just checked out that Riverside album yesterday... good stuff, I just wish it had more vocal harmony.

I'll second the Oceansize recommendation as well. And if you like them, you should check out Amplifier.

Akercocke - Words that go unspoken, deeds that go undone
Image

This is definitely one of the best Albums of this year. Akercocke are from England and their music is a pretty crazy mix of Death Metal, Black Metal, melancholic Prog Rock and all that in a very (experi)mental way. It's very difficult to describe actually. I'm sure fans of Opeth and Arcturus could enjoy this very much, although it might be a bit too unconventional for Opeth fans. Well, you gotta listen for yourself to see whether you like it or not I guess:

I'm lazy so I'll just copy my post from Ryan's forum :P

Gorefest - La Muerte
Image

This Album really surprised me. I expected just a regular Gorefest Album that sounds totally old school without any new aspects but it seems like Gorefest kinda knew that they would have to do things a bit different this time. There's quite some nice blasting going on on this record but not TOO much and there's still TONS of groove in their music. And the guitar work is really great. The solos in the 3rd track are HUGE. And I like their singer's vocals better on this one too. I'm gonna buy that one for sure. You can check out some song excerpts at http://www.gorefest.nl in the media section.

Gojira - From Mars To Sirius
Image

I discovered this band a while back when I checked the Listenable Records website. Gojira are from France and their music sounds like a mix of Neurosis and SYL with a little bit of Sepultura and Meshuggah mixed in. Sounds weird but it is difficult to describe. Their stuff is quite diverse. Some songs are rather slow, you'll find mid-tempo songs on it as well as pretty fast songs. The sound reminds me a bit of SYL's City or the last Scarve album. Definitely worth to check out. You can listen to a track here: http://www.vs-webzine.com/go_mp3.php?Idmp3=529

Grand Magus - Wolf's Return
Image

This is a pretty cool band too. I only know this Album so far but I really like it. Grand Magus features the current Spiritual Beggars singer and they are not too dissimilar. I read that Grand Magus used to be a Doom Rock band but on this Album there are also some faster songs but you'll still find some Stoner and Doom on it. And their singer has an awesome voice with lotsa Blues in it. The perfect music to have some beer to with buddies. You can listen to a song when you follow this link:

Ephel Duath - Pain Necessary To Know
Image

Holy shizzle, what a headfuck! I listened to this Album for the first time today and had trouble to fully understand it when I listened to it for the first time. Yup, it's even less accessible than "the painter's palette" was. For all of you who don't know, Ephel Duath's music is a pretty crazy mix of crazy jazz and noisecore. This Album might seem to be more quiet at first but it's a lot more complex than their last Album, a lot more jazzy and a lot more confusing too. The noisy parts have clearly decreased in order to make room for more jazzy parts. I really love it! It is not TOO different from their last Album but still not really the same. Check out this mp3 to get an idea http://www.elitistrecords.co.uk/audio/e ... eonasm.mp3

If you like your music straight forward then this is definitely NO music for you!

yeah, it somehow happened to many albums lately. This one, Non-Human Level, the re-release of the 2nd Mistress Album, etc...all delayed. But I'm pretty sure that the new ED record will finally be out next week on Friday.

I know! It's killing me. I've just been on the meshuggah boards and someone said the new EP site had been launched, but when I go on it, I just get the old site...is it just me?
