You forgot to mention that the band photos from the first beseech are worth the price of admission on their own.

That band is pretty good. I was disappointed with their music though. I went to their website and it was fucking amazing, unfortunately their music didn't quite live up to their website.

 How could I forget that?

Other bands worth mentioning are...

Amorphis: Their more prominent albums include Tales from the thousand lakes, Elegy, and Tuonela. The music styles on these three albums vary significantly. Amorphis evolve from death metal to just great 70's-inspired rock music.

Kingston Wall: 70's-influenced psychedelic rock. Excellent music. It's just too bad they created only 3 albums before breaking up.

Blackfield: A side project by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree. Blackfield is a bit softer and more pop-ish than PT, but the songs are grrreat.

Kino - Picture
Image

Just recently discovered this great band. A couple of weeks ago I saw a concert by them on TV here and I really loved what I heard. And when I recently read that Kino released an Album (their debut), I just had to check it out. Kino feature members and ex-members of bands like Porcupine Tree, Arena or Marillion and if you like those bands then you might also like Kino. You´ll find great Progressive Rock songs on that Album, some more mellow and others a little heavier. Also the first song (Losers day Parade) on this Album features Karl Middleton (Earthtone 9/The Blueprint). You only hear him for a few seconds but hey, he´s there. This Album is definitely worth to give a try.

You can check out a little Medley of the Album "Picture" here:

Well, some lunatic sent me one of Kino's songs (All You See) a short time ago.
Quite a nice blend of the delicate and the heavy. Definitely gonna check these guys out. :D

I'm in Prog Heaven!

I've been meaning to check out Kino, mainly because Chris Maitland (ex-PT) is the drummer. Man am I glad I gave this a listen. It's been a while since an album has really grabbed me on first listen. There isn't a boring song on the album. I highly recommend them as well! :D

Riverside - Out Of Myself

This Album is a masterpiece in my opinion and nothing less. If you like Porcupine Tree, go and check out this Album. Damn it, why are you still reading this? OK. Well, those guys are from Poland, really amazing and released one of the best Prog Albums of 2004 last year (maybe it was released earlier than that in Poland, not sure). This band doesn´t seem to be very well known outside of Poland but I think they should be. You don´t often get to hear brilliant Prog Rock that comes close to Porcupine Tree´s or Pink Floyd´s brilliance. I highly recommend to give "Out Of Myself" a try!

No-Man - Together We´re Stranger
Image
I bought this Album on risk back in 2003 when it was released because this band features Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree so I was curious and just got it and I was damn right to do so. The only other bandmember besides Wilson is Tim Bowness who is responsible for the vocals while Wilson is responsible for the instruments and backing vocals. You can compare No-Man with Porcupine Tree but still there´s a big difference...the level of Volume. No-Man´s music is so much more quiet and chilling, the perfect music to relax to at night. No-Man have released quite a few Albums already but are still pretty unkown although they sure deseve a lot more attention. Dave aka Coma Divine is now able to say something about this band as well :) . So if you like Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd and also feel comfortable with quiet and peaceful music such as Sigur Ros's Albums, then you might like No-Man as well.

and because I have nothing better to do, here´s one more...

Bohren & Der Club Of Gore - Black Earth
Image

I discovered this band in 2003 while looking for some music similar to Fantomas. Amazon recommended this band so I checked them out and I was very surprised, especially when I found out that they´re from Germany because we don´t have that many innovative bands here in my opinion. Bohren & der Club Of Gore play very slow Ambient Soundtrack Doom-Jazz...I think that describes their music best. You won´t hear any fast songs, in fact I think that many people might find thier music pretty boring. The drumming is very slow and minimalistic. And of course I have to mention the saxophone which makes their music so awesome. This Album is constantly surrounded by a very dark atmosphere and there´s not even a tiny ray of light. It would probably make a good soundtrack for Noir movies. Mike Patton even signed them for Ipecac last year, saying that they´re the best thing that he heard from Germany for years. Can´t wait to hear their new Album "Geisterfaust" which will be released in May, at least in Germany.

you can watch a video by them here:

Huh?
*looks around quickly*

Wha? :o

Hehe, actually I'd place No-Man closer to Sigur Ros than Porcupine Tree if it came to a choice. The "prog" elements are toned down considerably in favour of a simpler, yet soulful and quiet melancholy. Bowness' vocals remind me (as does some of the overall feel) of David Sylvian.

Returning Jesus (2002) is along similar lines, and probably my preferred of the two that I've heard thus far, if only for the beautiful closing track "All That You Are".
Definitely a late night cruise, these guys. Nice music to have in the background among the candles when one is gettin' it onnnn.

I would imagine.

If you like a new form of music that's sweeping the nation called "spazz-core", I'd like to reccommend a band called 'The Daughters'.

Incorporating maniacal drumming, screeching vocals and guitars that rarely play below the 12th fret. they currently have one 'full-length' album (i say 'full- length' because the entire album clocks in at around 15 mins) and an ep availiable from their website:

http://www.wearedaughters.com

I like 'em... give 'em a go.
