Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

At The Gates. They were excellent.
Only complaint was that the lighting guys went too heavy on flashing strobes, so much so that I had to keep looking away. Annoying.
Still, the band put on a great show, and I got in free, so I shouldn't complain.

Local bands, but since it's the last ever metal gig at a venue that's closing down (the Pony, one of my favorite dive bars/music venues), I'm going to share anyway.

The headlining band was Desecrator, who tore shit up and got a great crowd response. By the time their set was up I'd had enough alcohol to deem mosh pit pain negligible. Plus I was more comfortable interacting with the crowd as I knew nobody there, except faces I recognized from various gigs but never got to know. Gay stuff aside, they were awesome, and I was effectively bordering on deafness when their set finished, but that's because I'm an idiot and forgot to bring earplugs.

The bands preceding them were also great - Blackened, who got a great response and played excellent thrash (they even played Immortal's Sons of Northern Darkness and made it sound like a song Exodus would have written); Harlott, who were fantastic, plus the lead singer also gave me their EP for free after I told him what a great show they played; there was also an Adelaide band called Hidden Intent who were pretty cool, I may see them tomorrow. The only band that didn't click with me was Kill Shot, but they were more of a glam rock band that looked fresh out of high school, so there you go.

Well, I've bored you long enough, good night.

Bon Iver and Gotye. Hooooooly balls were they both good. That was apparently Bon Iver's last show as well. Bit OTT with the light show crap but that's just what you get at an arena gig I suppose... It was mesmerising from start to finish. And Gotye were exactly as great as I thought they'd be. Great energy despite an awful crowd and Wally constantly jumping around between various and increasingly weird instruments was very cool. Definitely gonna go see them again if the opportunity arises, and I'm hoping Justin Vernon was just talking out his ass when he said Bon Iver were winding down. Great couple of days...

It was Deep Purple just in my town! (Normandy) Great Show , Gillan had a strong voice even he left many times the stage to let his musicians alone! They are old but they rocked! many songs from " In Rock" "Fireball" and "Machine Head"! the two first songs were : Fireball and into the fire ! no cut! All my youth that night!i'm happy!

Here a vid that I made!

Nils Frahm is playing in Cork tonight. Not sure you're anywhere near that, but you should go anyway.

I am seeing Ruskoe or Roskoe or whatever his name is tomorrow. Hopefully I won't hate myself for spending $20 to see someone I haven't even heard of before.

Oh I was there. It was fucking unreal. A tiny tiny tiny little theatre about 10 minutes walk from my house, totally sold out which totalled about 35/40 people. Just him, two pianos and two lights and it was absolute magic. Definitely top three gigs I've ever been to. Quite possibly more beautiful than the Ghost show in London last year... I was totally blown away. And I was really stoned so that was even more awesome. He's a really nice guy as well! Chatted to him for a little while after. He thought my name was Merk when I first started talking to him as well...

I've already posted my impressions from Warsaw's DTP show in appropriate thread, but this may be a good place to share some more thoughts on Fear Factory's set plus couple of priceless pics shot by my bro:

Dino the Planet Smasher:

Rest of them here.

Anyway, Burton C. needs to get his shit together. No problem with harsh part of vocals, that little "walking in place" routine can stay too, just make vocals a little less sour. I know he can, some live recordings from youtube are actually good enough. Sure not "Dev good", but good enough to not make you cringe.

That new drummer guy sounded a bit lost in places, too, though in general did pretty good job, considering the material. Dino, of course, is legendary, bass guy did great job too - until his bass-something blew up and last part of the show was bassless. Best sounding songs (with acceptable vocals) were old classics like Replica or Self Bias Resistor, Lynchpin and Resurrection were pretty bad - shame, I like those a lot :(

Last Friday: Kreator, Morbid Angel, Nile.

That line-up... 8) Pure awesomeness! And to see Morbid Angel in a club setting. Damn. Though each band played a great set, I have to say Morbid Angel stole the show this time. Fuckin' incredible show!

Morbid Angel ruled SO HARD! Nile was also good. Kreator did an ok job as well, but I didn't have the patience to watch their entire set. But still, an amazing evening of metal.

Already 2 months ago, I went to see GODFLESH and few weeks later GONG.

GODFLESH came to Japan first time, and that was the time most of Japanese industrial rock fan's dreams came true.
I'm sure Justin is the king of underground music! Totally awesome!

GONG, Daevid Allen is 74 years old, but he was dancing cheerfully while playing guitar, singing, laughing.
I can't believe he is such a old man. His experimentalism is forever.

Cock and Ball Torture. They were fucking awesome. They also made light of the fact that Marduk was playing tonight as well by announcing themselves as Marduk, "here to bring true Swedish black metal (just kidding, we're a German porn band)." They actually sound better live than on record, in my opinion. And they were funny guys.

Supporting them were local acts Fuck I'm Dead (great as always), Captain Cleanoff, Intense Hammer Rage (the drummer wanted to buy my Albert Fish Macabre shirt, jokingly of course) and Embodied in their last show ever - they put on a damn good performance, which make me more interested in them as I haven't heard much of their stuff. Fun night.
