Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

Rather sadly, I think the only album that grabbed my attention this year was Patton's Mondo Cane.
The rest of what I listened to was mostly random or classical on spotify, or some older stuff that I missed or didn't pay the deserved attention when it came out (QotSA, Massive Attack)

Highlighted a couple for you fags who think 2010 was shit.

Massive Attack's Heligoland is a good album I think. Further, I wasn't allowed to forget Ihsahn's After as well.

I absolutely forgot that one!
The new Fear Factory is also good.
unfortunately I still don't know the latest outcome from Dillinger.

I saw Survivor's Zero supporting Hypocrisy on their European tour and must admit it was truly nothing special to me. Many bands sound like that.

It's been awhile since I've posted, but here's my list. Not a great year, overall, it's sad to say...

Periphery -- Periphery
Tesseract -- Concealing Fate EP
Chimp Spanner -- At the Dream's Edge
Cloudkicker -- Beacons
Seventh Wonder -- The Great Escape
The Ocean -- Heliocentric and Anthropocentric

I didn't know Atheist had a new album out (and what the fuck? it's been like 17 years since their last), so I'll have to check that out! I got Nevermore's new one, too, but I really didn't care for it, so I kept it out of my top list. Most of the music that was new to me last year was not actually new, so that kind of ruins my list, I guess.

Wow that's a shame man. I thought they were a really polished up child of Hypocrisy. Yes, a lot of bands out there sound like that but they pulled it off extremely well like only Finns can do and I think the final product is really listenable unlike a lot of bands that try to copy the likes of the Hypocrisy mastermind Peter Tägtgren. Actually I feel that Survivor's Zero's debut album is just as good as the last two Hypocrisy albums and far better than the two before those.

To each their own man!

I can never remember what came out when so I suck at these things.

From memory...

Janelle Monae - Archandroid
The Black Keys - Brothers
Cloudkicker - Beacons
The Gaslight Anthem - American Slang

Cloudkicker and Black Keys were the big wins of 2010 for me. Beacons is a... well, a beacon really, in a fairly dim year of metal. Brothers is such a sweet album, dirty and bluesy yet still super catchy. A bit of a meh year by some standards, especially after so much amazing music in 2009, but I'm looking forward to a bunch this year, and first up is the new Joan As Policewoman. Fingers crossed!
