Beowulf - it was actually pretty good...apart from the fact that I had to sit with my fingers in my ears all the way through the movie as the cinema had it waaay too loud, it was just ridiculous!

That is one thing why I rarely go to cinemas these days. Every Lord of the rings movie had that problem. Strangely enough 300 didn't

hitman, was actually a pleasant surprise, meaning i anticipated a huge pile of nonsensical crap, and it was actually a moderate pile of semi-sensical crap
decent action flick, with its laughs and quirks, but no real story to fall upon

A Might Heart

Pretty good movie. Usually with Angelina Jolie I can take her or leave her, but she was really good in this movie. I imagine she'll be nominated for a few awards for it.

Not sure what you mean by add-on 3d effects. But I do agree that some of the animation was pretty dodgy. The horses, for example, were total rubbish!

i mean, adding stuff that comes out of the screen excessively, just because you can
there were just many shots filmed at weird angles, to show the foreground in the 3d and such
i cant remember specifics, but it felt tacky

Eastern Promises

Awesome movie. As a David Cronenberg fan, I had to see this one, and I was stunned. A History Of Violence was nice, but I missed a certain thread. This movie is much better in my opinion. Great story, great acting, great camerawork (David, you gotta love 'em). Viggo Mortensen is one helluva underrated actor. Sure, he played in Bored Of The Rings, but you can't say he keeps playing himself, because his last couple of movies have been totally different of eachother.
There were no slow moments or bad moments in this movie for me. Awesome... 10/10

Sunshine

Another favorite of mine, mr. Danny Boyle. The visuals in this movie are once again amazing, as with Trainspotting and 28 Days Later. The story is a bit thin and filled with plotholes, but watchable, and spooky. The cast is great though; it's an international cast, with actors from four different countries, Japan, USA, Britain and Australia.
It's a beautiful to look at; just don't debate the story too much. (oh, and don't compare it too Event Horizon...)

I watched The Prestige at the weekend. It used too much of the disjointed flashbacks for my taste. I can't help but compare it with the 'other' magic movie that came out this year, The Illusionist. I thought that one was much more enjoyable even if the ending was a little pat and rushed.

I was very impressed with this too. I'm glad he continues to branch out and show what a talent he is (and what a knife fight!!).

Saw Hitman and was quite happy with it, though the Hollywood love interest angle left me a bit unsure. I guess they were using it for character exposition, but 47 is a guy who should remain mysterious, if you know what's good for you. Being a film representation of a videogame, I wasn't expecting Shakespeare (as I believe a lot of film critics were), and there were some great action sequences, such as when he stood up and did the business in that room in Istanbul. That gave me the kind of adrenaline kick I'd gotten playing Blood Money.

Speaking of which, I heartily agree with Juz about Deadwood. I've bought all three series recently, having never seen it before...and have been stunned by how good the acting (and especially the dialogue) is. I think Ian McShane as Al Swearengen is one of the finest acting performances I've witnessed. I hope they conclude it in some fashion in the future, as it is too fine a piece of work just to leave unfinished.

Futurama movie. loved it, im not even that big a fan of it either

I too absolutely loved this series. Characters are just brilliant. Really gut wrenchingly 'coorse' scenes, but so well done.

Awwwww! It's a lovely wee film. Ok it's very silly but splendid for watching on your own on a comfy couch with a heap of warm cats and a tissue for the ending. And I like the wee tune that runs through it.
