Watched The International last night. Anything with Clive Owen is usually automatic win and this was not a disappointment! I'd highly recommend.

We also rented Donkey Punch, Hunger and Doubt.. Hopefully they'll all be as good. Well not Donkey Punch. That's gonna be shit. But I liked the name so I insisted we get it. :P

Watched Swedish film Fucking Åmål yesterday. Actually liked it a lot. Great "teen movie". Actually found you can watch it on google video with subs if someone is interested. May not be for everyone.

Very, very impressive horror movie. Reminded me a little of The Others but this was way more intense.
Most likely the best Spanish flick I've seen yet!

Good movie, I've been trying to watch more modern horror lately, and that film was very good.
I don't know if you've seen Pan's Labyrinth by Guillermo del Toro, who also produced El orfanato. It's a very good film, I personally enjoyed it better that El orfanato.

I been trying to finish this Japanese thriller, Cure, but I'm having difficulty finding the time hah. Its pretty good from what I've seen so far.

Yep, I saw Pan's Labyrinth earlier and through that I found out about El orfanato. I think it was quite good but not as impressive as the latter.

[Rec] was the second Spanish horror movie that I saw lately. Quite different from the previous ones, but very good in its own sub-genre. There were some moments that I literally shouted in frightment and got our dog barking like mad :D

You liked it I assume , yes? I just watched it HBO the other night - I forgot how creepy it was :)
Even though I'm 21, I won't lie, that horrid monster with the hand-eyes was pretty frightening! I liked that scene best though; it was extra creepy how just after she escaped, you could hear that thing still thumping around beneath the floor boards! That was a monster well done.

Hunger is an excellent movie. Very minimalist but very well done, especially for a first time director. I thought Doubt was pretty good, as well. Excellent acting and interesting story.

Just watched Happy-Go-Lucky. Not your typical British comedy, but I liked it. The main character reminded me of this girl I know from school who's just as.... well, happy-go-lucky.

Oh yes, that was what I meant in the previous post. I liked it but not as much as El orfanato.
That scene was creepy indeed, monsters in movies rarely scare me off nowadays but that was well done!!

Terminator - Salvation quite decent action, some nice terminators like motobots and oh so ugly T-600 (cgi Arnold also 8) ). Hopefully when released dvd there's going to be a director's cut available.

Thinking of going to see Sam Raimi's new horror(/comedy) Drag Me to Hell. Anyone seen that yet?
Also Lars von Trier's new movie Antichrist seems great..

Yeah I saw that.
I posted my thoughts a few pages back. I really enjoyed it.

I saw Terminator Salvation. It was good, though not as blown away as I had hoped.
Just another big summer blockbuster sort of. Some of the CGI work was good and the shot where he crashed the chopper was cool.

In this order we watched:
International
Donkey Punch
Hunger
Doubt
... while smoking recently.

International was excellent. The plot was fantastic, the action scenes were really raw and real and watching that sexy guy whose name evades me looking all rugged but still frightened at the same time was highly arou... amusing. It's definitely a close contender with Shoot 'Em Up for being one of the best of his films that I've seen.

Donkey Punch was predictable and crap. After all the sexy stuff was over it was basically just really badly done gore. Not much to say, wouldn't recommend.

Hunger made me cry three times. It's about Bobby Sands, who was the first prisoner to die in the hunger strikes during the troubles in Ireland. They were protesting their treatment (oh my God it was appalling) and the fact that they weren't considered political priosoners. I read his autobiography last week and even cried while reading that. I guess I'm just a patriotic pussy. That said, I do concede that the film really focusses on their punishments and not so much their crimes.

Doubt was ok but
it didn't really provide the closure I would've liked it to
. It was entertaining enough but at the end it doesn't really feel like anything noteworthy has happened.

Watching now. It's really, really good. If this is what a teen movie is like in a foreign language then I think I'll be watching more of them. It's very realistic and sort of touching in a gay kind of way.

Rocknrolla I think that Guy Ritchie has lost his touch after Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, and this one certainly is not bringing it back. Boring.

Glad you liked it, so I didn't post it here for nothing, hah!

I just started watching Synecdoche, New York, cause a friend of mine recommended it. So far, I'd say it's worth of the recommendation.

Also, earlier today I watched (atleast half of) "S1m0ne" that came from the TV. Al Pacino was the leading actor so thought it could work... But not a very good movie. Unfortunately 2002 graphic technology can't create a believable human being, whose apparent authenticity the whole movie is based on. The way people act in the situation isn't at all believable either.

But the idea of the script itself is alright. So is the performance of Pacino. It's just not enough to save a flawed attempt.
