Does this mean you're going to try listening to Pain of Salvation? Or have you already?

Listen, if you can handle Opeth, you can most certainly handle PoS (regarding growly/harsh vox).

Gildenlow's harsh vocals are some of the worst around, from what I've heard (which is a fair bit, cos Prexy loves em). His singing is bloody brilliant though. Powerful voice.

Gildenlow reminds me of a baritone version of Roger from the movie Rent. Or perhaps Roger is a tenor version of Gildenlow, I guess, since I heard Gildenlow first.

(Skip ahead to 3:43 to hear it, especially since Rosario Dawson can be a bit grating to some)

See, I'm still having problems comprehending that. I've heard people complain that he uses too much emotion (go figure...oh, and these are James LaBrie fans), but you're the first with the harsh vocals issue.

I just ordered Remedy Lane last night. I really don't know what to expect, but I've heard great things for a couple years, and thought that it was about damn time to check them out. I'm just sad that they couldn't do Prog. Nation '09 this year, like at the last minute :(

Wut? *_* but I have a bass-crush on Kristoffer... :[
Must be awkward to ask your brother to leave your own band....

So if I like LaBrie and Opeth, PoS will be appealing? That's what I'm sensing. This could be the start of something beautiful :]
How do you feel about Scarsick? I'm curious.

I wouldn't expect very aghhresive stuff from them, they're bunch of hippies after all. But they can sing harmonies like mofos.

Remedy Lane is a very good choice. You'll find several favorites on there. I love the Fandango and Undertow riffs, and Dryad Of The Woods is simply beautiful.

Have you guys heard a PoS album I am unfamiliar with? Growly/harsh vox?

It is great, but a bit too focused on Gildenlow's philosophies rather than the music. My personal fave will probably always be The Perfect Element. Too many great memories there....and what I feel is the peak of their career. I will be crushed for this opinion probably....

I crush your head! *makes crushing motions with fingers*
Sorry...old school.

Scarsick is my least favorite, but it's still a great album. It's more stripped down...more straight-forward with less prog moments. The last track, Enter Rain, is one of my favorite songs tho. :)

Ew hippies? Well I'm still going to to try it out. Everyone's input has been helpful. I love harmonies, after all, we're Townsend fans :D

Great. I've heard from fans, that that's the "one to have." At least as a beginners CD.

I've also heard this as well - that maybe he's a little preachy?

Blueraja - I see. Good to know :)
I gotta ask these things because I don't have the money to spend on CD's that I might not like  Got to choose wisely when almost broke!

Both parents contribute parts which are better than their partner. The skeksis provides the devilish good looks, you provide human clothing and fancy spiked-up hair. :D
