I'm pretty certain Episode 3 will be the next game out from them. I also expect news on November 16th to coincide with HL2s 5th anniversary.

Speculative but we can hope :)

Black Mesa: Source is still due this year, hopefully it'll get some news or something then too, I hope.

Now that is something I'm dying to play. Been looking forward to that more so than EP3.

finally am at level 50! That sure took a while all by myself but it was sweet when the achievement popped up :D I found a volcano sniper too now with close to 700 damage plus 4x fire damage (if I remember it correctly). Such a sweet weapon! So now I only need the multiplayer achievements and the 3 remaining skill achievements with the other character classes.

That game was actually one of the easiest 1000 gamerscore I've ever gotten (of the 3 you know? haha)

The volcano snipers and combustion hellfire smg's are amazing because they are incendiary on every shot. Massive damage to human foes who arent armored!

Mirror's Edge is great. I suck at it terribly, faceplant every 20 seconds, but love it. Really fresh, stylish stuff, yat for another NOT samey game.

It'd be so convenient if, in real life, when travelling somewhere you had a load of red lines all over the earth to guide you. :D

The one part of that game that always got on my nerves was when you're on a ledge or something, facing a wall and the First Person view just shits all over your chances of knowing what the hell to do with whatever is behind you so you are immediately destined to take a dive. Third Person alternative camera would've greatly improved that game, in my opinion. Great craic all the same though.

Red line runner-vision...the next big upgrade for your GPS!

I know what you mean by getting a better idea of what to do next with a third-person perspective, but including that would pretty much undermine the personal feel I think they were going for. After navigating through rooftop obstacles, dodging gunfire, running at top speed, and jumping to a completely different building in a first person POV, I think zooming out to a full-body shot of Faith just for the sake of a slightly better grasp of the next step would take me out of the experience. I think instead of the perspective change, a better sense of control or level layout would have been more welcome (at least to me, anyway). And kinda segueing from the idea of better level layouts, my biggest complaint would probably have to be the formulaic, primarily single-path level designs. Each chapter pretty much progressed as such: Start on a rooftop...go into building...take elevator...run on rooftops...take elevator...escape from police. I can't play the story too often for fear that I'll get bored with doing the same thing chapter after chapter.

I loved Mirror's Edge. Awesome concept and a rather original game.

Modern Warfare 2 has been sucking my life up just like Borderlands did...

^^this. This game has one of the best first-person view implementations I've seen (at least as good as Crysis for me). Everything feels very physical, you have feeling that's really a view from someones eyes, not merely a camera floating amongst some 3D shapes. Very immersive - 3rd person would spoil that.

Finished the game (damn some parts were frustrating) and have to find something other to play. I have to postpone my MW2 experience past about 2011 (no way I'm paying full price for pretty looking shooting gallery), but fortunately new Stalker has launch date set on 27th Nov here, which is totally the cat's pyjamas. Heard Russian/Ukrainian players who already play it for weeks report it is great and surprisingly low on bugs (you can finish non-patched version of game which is liek total revolution in Stalker business).

Wow, did not know that a new Stalker game was so close. Gotta look that up!

just finished Modern Warfare 2 on veteran difficulty. That was pretty tough...to me anyways but I'm not a CoD pro by any means. But yeah, even though it was frustrating here and there, it was much more fun and certainly took longer than 6 hours, heh.
Also played Dragon Age: Origins for a bit. It's been fun so far and I'm sure it will take a long while till I'm done with that.
And AC2 and L4D2 next week!

Starting to get into Dragon Age myself and also really enjoying it so far. Very early days though, so will reserve judgement for a good while yet.

I don't have access to good enough broadband at the moment to make playing Modern Warfare 2 online a viable prospect right now, so I'll probably hold off on it until next year.

Quick question for PS3 owners... I've scored a free PS3 with my new TV and should receive it before Christmas. So my spending cash will probably go towards a game or two for it. Any absolute must-have games?

Cheers!

Wow! For some strange reason I'm completely over Modern Warfare 2 now. I think I might take it back at the end of the week and buy something else.

My roommate has been playing a fair amount of it, and there are some cool sequences, but it's not that cool in my opinion.

If the game just had a stronger narrative I think it'd be much better. I know that's not how Call of Duty games go, but it doesn't matter.

The multiplayer has some cool little tweaks to it, but it really just seems disappointing to me. People were talking to me like this game was the second coming of christ, I fail to be impressed. The game that I think is actually impressive this year, as far as games I'll never play because I don't really care for shooters, is Uncharted 2.
