The iPhone's new resolution is higher than other smartphones, but it's barely perceptible unless you look really really close just to see it. Just that Apple gave it a fancy name ("retina"? WTF) doesn't make it revolutionary.
As far as I know, "App switching" is juts Apple's (very limited) attempt at multitasking, which smartphones always have been able to do (except the iPhone). Including Android.
I wouldn't really know... I don't own a mobile phone. Luddite that I am.
