As far as I know, "App switching" is juts Apple's (very limited) attempt at multitasking, which smartphones always have been able to do (except the iPhone). Including Android.

You can call it that. What I like about it is how you can recall an app that's "open" by double clicking the home button, which brings up a menu of all the "running" apps, without having to go back to the home screen/menu. That's what I like about it.
