Mostly Awake some hipster tripe by some assholes in Brooklyn. the screening had somewhere around 250 people crammed into some makeshift theater, and the audio was emanating from some loud Fender amp. Some shithead who worked on the movie said it was fulfilling a childhood dream.

There were some audio problems because one of the guys who recorded it was a total fucknut, but there were few legit gripes other than a few mastering errors from technical difficulties right before the screening. What a bunch of ill-prepared sacks of shit.

Massive congratulations on the premier, Cody! Now when do the rest of us get to see it?

Bad Biology

"I was born with 7 clits". That's the first thing you hear in this movie and it pretty well reflects how bizarre it is. It's basically about a gal that was born with 7 clits who gets so extatic when she does it with a guy that she ends up killing them afterwards and she also gives birth to a mutated baby 2 hours after she had sex. And then you have a guy with a gigantic, mutated and drug addicted penis who constantly has to inject steroids into his schlong or take other drugs to calm it down. And of course these two folks make a perfect couple and the movie tells the story of how they meet each other. Sort of like...freak girl meets freak boy. The movie was directed by Frank Henenlotter, the guy who made Frankenhooker and the Basket Case flicks so I expected this movie to be bizarre and funny and it surely was. It's certainly not for everyone. I'd say 99.9999% of the people who watched this movie probably hated it. But I thought it was hilarious. :D

From Beyond

From Beyond is one of my favorite horror flicks from the 80's. And it was actually one of the my first horror movies. I can't quite remember whether 'Night of the Creeps' or 'From Beyond' was my first horror flick but yeah, when I was a kid this movie really freaked me out. My sister owned it on VHS back then and I of course managed to check it out and boy did it scare the shit out of me, heh. It's from the guy who brought us 'Re-Animator' and From Beyond is just as grotesque and bloody and fun! Great, good old hand made gore effects...oh how I miss you. Recently got it on Blu-ray and it looks quite marvelous!

Sinister

I really, really liked it for the most part. But there's a couple of things that sort of left a bit of a sour taste. First of all, I loved the overall atmosphere in the movie, they really pulled that off wonderfully. It's dark and creepy with a quite fascinatingly eerie sound design. I really, really loved it a lot up until the point where there was this trendy clich

Moon, again. Still excellent. :)

Django Unchained
Plot takes some weird directions sometimes, but overall really good. Racism is funny, people! :P

Intouchables
Watched it last night with a couple of friends. Funny and heartwarming. Definitely recommended.

Side Effects. Interesting film, though a bit slower than I had thought it would be.
Still, it developed the characters well, and the twists were revealed at the appropriate time and pacing. Great performances all round as well.
I recommend it.

A Late Quartet.

Interesting film about a group of classical musicians; when one of them develops Parkinson's (Christopher Walken), the rest fall into a chaotic mix of despair, lust and ego-trips. A tad melodramatic and over-acted in parts (Phillip Seymour Hoffman had probably the most self-centered role I've seen him play, though he was good), but I still enjoyed it. Especially Walken's performance, one of the most moving I've seen.

That said, my troll brain kicked in after the film ended with this:

I'm just glad it didn't pop up during the movie.

John Dies at the End - A profoundly enjoyable experience and an absolute mindfuck to boot. Long story short it's about two chaps who encounter a mysterious Rastafarian gent at a party who introduces them to a drug which essentially transports you to every point in Time and Space at once. Though some who return do so as something else entirely. Best I can describe it would be a glorious mash up of "Invader Zim" meets "Dogma" meets "In the Mouth of Madness". I spent the entire first viewing just trying to take everything in that was happening and failing miserably but loving every second due to some truly tremendous dialogue. Repeat viewings have proven quite rewarding and just as enjoyable. I heartily recommend this alongside "Cabin in the Woods" as a shining example of how great modern Horror can be.

saw Skyfall and really, really liked it. Even more so than Casino Royale. Great action, great effects...but Daniel Craig looked a little weird. Dunno if it's just me but he either looks quite a bit older now or skinnier or something. But obviously that doesn't affect the movie by any means, heh.

And I saw Django Unchained and liked it a lot too. In my opinion it ain't Tarantino's best flick but it was pretty darn fun anyways. And Waltz stole the show once again.

Saw In Time while looking after my lad who's ill with a virus (he's fine btw).

I was expecting to hate it but I was pleasantly surprised. It really just applies a new lick of paint to the likes of Logan's Run, but it does so in a nicely tense-lite way. There are no big surprises or twists, but the premise of everyone, apart from the lucky few, living on limited time gives a nice urgency to the character's decisions and actions.

Timberlake and Murphy don't look anything like 25, but that's a minor quibble. Oh, and Amanda Seyfried looks good with a bob haircut and a bit of lingerie.

I sort of wanted to hate it too. But I guess I can't really hate an Andrew Niccol movie. But then again, now there's a movie coming out that was done by him and it's based on books by that terrible woman that wrote the Twilight atrocities. :?

WAT. Ugh, can't wait for that.

Yeah it was like Gattaca with some of the style but not the genius. Funny decision to go over old ground.

Sinister

When I saw trailer of this turd in theatre I thought that "now there's a promising horror movie", now that I have actually seen it all I can say is that it doesn't deliver. Disturbing soundtrack in places, but rest is just stupid.
