When I saw trailer of this turd in theatre I thought that "now there's a promising horror movie", now that I have actually seen it all I can say is that it doesn't deliver. Disturbing soundtrack in places, but rest is just stupid.

I saw that a couple of weeks ago... the main guy is a complete idiot throughout the film. The plot was tedious too. Quite liked the way it looked/sounded though.

Skyfall

First Bond movie ever... Holy shit was it good, it looked fucking amazing.

Flight

Not as good as Skyfall, but I enjoyed it. John Goodman proved once again he's awesome.

The Dictator

fucking loved it. Watched it with one of my very best friends a few hours ago and we laughed our asses off. It's obviously not for everyone and most people hate Sacha Baron Cohen's stuff anyways. But I very much enjoy his humor, as super-offensive as it may be and hey, maybe that means I got no sense of humor but I'm German after all.

The Day

"The most shocking film of the year" it says on cover, well maybe if this is the ONLY film one is going to watch at whole year. But in that case I'll bet that realization of the fact that it's shit and there is nothing else to watch whole year, now there's a true shocker. Familiar faces here, a hobbit and Iceman. And that's it, avoid.

Yep, seems to live up to the hype. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

The perks of being a wallflower
This is a good drama story, but I felt the last 10 minutes or so were a bit rushed. It all spun out of control and back rather quickly after carefully building up to that point. Nevertheless a thumbs up.

Looper
Interesting premise with the assassinations through time-travel, although how or why some of the population has a telekinesis mutation in the future is utterly unexplained. And it turns out to be pretty relevant to the plot, too. Still, Joseph Gordon-Levitt hunting his future self (played by Bruce Willis) makes for pretty good entertainment, so if you're looking for something to fill an otherwise dull evening this one should be a decent option.

^ They remade it like all the horror movies have been remade, bad special effects, trying too hard to go for shock value, used a lot of cliches (not in the good way like in the original) and they just took all the fun out of it. I expected it to be bad, but I wanted to give it a chance anyway, big mistake.

Well, I'm going to go and see it anyways. To be brutally honest here, original film is shit. Don't get me wrong, I love it but it's still shit...

watched Oblivion with a good friend of mine yesterday and we both very much enjoyed it. It's visually stunning and beautiful, the music in it is fantastic too and I actually enjoyed the story. I don't know what people are bitching about online again but I guess it's what people do these days...bitch, bitch, bitch. Yeah, Tom Cruise is in it and he's a fruitcake but the movie still was VERY enjoyable. Had a nice oldschool sci-fi feeling to it. I'll definitely pick it up once it's out on Blu-ray. Oh and it's not a 3D movie...yays!

Watched Hugo (in 2D at home).

Beautiful movie. I know it's supposed to be spectacular in 3D but it was still a beautiful film to watch at home on TV. Baron Cohen was bloody awful as the station guard but that aside it was pretty much a flawless family movie. And kids wouldn't notice his dodgy hamming - he'd just be the silly man at the station.

All those nods to the history of early cinema, very good performances and a feel-good story. Definitely a movie I'll enjoy watching with the kid/s in a few years.

Not sure what people's gripes are with The Hobbit, but despite taking a little while to get going I found it really enjoyable. At first I dreaded it might turn into some sort of musical with all the various song bits, but that's fortunately not the case. :) I'm still not sure how they're going to fill a third movie, but I'm looking forward to the second one at least.

Beyond the visual effects being too obviously CG in parts (some of which looked like a video game), I suppose it was the way the story was padded out. True, if one reads the Appendices of LOTR, you'll find such events as the dwarf feud with the orcs, but Jackson took them a step further, altering them and drawing them out for drama's sake, similar how he approached Faramir in The Two Towers, though I ultimately accepted that.
If such expansion applies in various scenes throughout filming, then you can see why a third film was made, extraneous though it might seem, especially since all three are probably going to have extended editions (though it's possible they might actually improve pacing; and yes, I am looking forward to them in hopes they'll do just that :P).

Watched The Hobbit on DVD last night too... yes, it's long but still very enjoyable.

Strangely enough, Juz, I watched Hugo recently too and yes, it's a very pleasant movie.

I also watched Simon Pegg's odd movie, A Fantastic Fear of Everything about a paranoid writer, phobic about launderettes and terrified of being murdered. It's strange but does have some truly laugh out loud comic moments.

I thought The Hobbit was awesome, all though my heart nearly jumped out of my chest through the film. There was always SOMETHING happening. :P
