Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

Fuck ISIS. This shit is just horrible..

RIP James Foley, and anyone else captured and tortured by these idiotic extremists. It's horrifying that things like this happen in the world today.

And maybe our president was golfing afterward as a coping mechanism (I seriously doubt it). If he wasn't, then fuck him too.
:furious:

Two schools of thought on ISIS that I've heard discussed.

1. ISIS wants a war in order to garner support within the region. Publicity and retaliation from the west is their goal.

2. ISIS want to scare the US, causing them to call off future air strikes and other military action, thereby allowing ISIS to continue their barbaric behaviour without interference.

I will never understand some of my fellow humans. They are killing children... I just can't process that.

Truly as unawesome as it gets.

I can't hardly process the killing of any human being, let alone a child. I just don't understand the depths of depravity it takes to take the life forcibly from another living person.

I hope they lie awake at night tormented by what they have done. I could wish no punishment greater than that.

It wouldn't be an easy choice against ISIS if you were the US president - you could be a gung-ho warrior and bomb the shit out of the region and be accused of being a terrorist yourself, or you could try and hold back and be as diplomatic as possible, resulting in being called a weakling.
People like ISIS only strengthen my misanthropy, and I have doubts they'd lie awake feeling guilt. In the interest of being PC however, I will not share what I'd like to happen to them.
They also give the band a bad name.

I do understand, being president of a nation is much harder than I could ever imagine, and I certainly would never want the responsibility. And though I despise his actions most of the time, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that his recreational activities are some form of break from having the weight of a million lives on his shoulders. I just don't imagine golfing with a nonchalant smile would be the reaction of someone who gives a shit about it.

On a lighter (ha) note, I wish we could crush a couple heads with weights as heavy as the riffs on Celestial.

Why on earth did you get fired? Just a systematic lay-off? Or some other ridiculous unfounded reason?

:/ Damn the dipshits. Well I hope you can find some other realists out there who can handle it. Also best of luck to your friend with their cancer. I lost an uncle to cancer of a different sort, so I sort of know the struggle.

A less heavy un-awesome but still cruddy news, my favorite Melbourne theater is closing down next year, for real this time.
This would be The Astor, which plays old and new films, with prints for older films that are hard to find. I've even been to a couple of Q&A's with actors/directors as well as special events there. The atmosphere is unmatched by any other in the city, in my opinion.
Unfortunately, the most recent buyer of the property has elected not to extend the lease. Nobody knows what's going to happen next. Most likely it'll be torn down for yet another shitty post-modern apartment eyesore, which seems to be the custom nowadays.

^That reminds me of a similar place in Tempe that I used to love going to. It was a tiny little art supply store with a heavy focus on bookbinding. They had everything. Unfortunately they aren't around anymore cause the place burned down. So

Nooooooo!

The Astor is an icon and my favourite cinema too. So many great memories.

I can't believe it's just going to close.
