Heavy Drone Metal song, not for everyone!

My most recent song i recorded is something totally different then the other things i've recorded in the past. This time around i wanted to try something new, drone music! Well i have a 7 string guitar strung like an 8 string guitar(due to my absolute love of Meshuggah! But its tuned a half step up from theirs in F# tuning)
Either way its called Black Hole and thats what it sounds like!

Again, not for everyone this song is ridiculously heavy and droning! haha

hm, i didn't find it that drony, but it was good none the less! much like meshuggah with the repititions and especially the way it sounded. it's not easy to properly record such a deep guitar tone, and you've done very well
i think i'm gonna listen to the rest of your tracks now!
edit: so far i can tell that i love your ambient stuff. really great to chill out at night. i'm not in the mood for metal right now, but i bookmarked your profile for later.
you should build yourelf a myspace site so your work doesn't idle around on it's own but gets the appreciation it deserves.
cheers!

Haha thanks a lot! I do have a myspace for my music actually at
http://www.myspace.com/aftermath2112 (betcha cant guess where i got the URL from! haha also, throw that link around a bit, im low on friends haha!)
In terms of the dronyness, it was mainly because i have a 3rd guitar track doubling certain parts that are accented and just droning an open F# on it! Also the bass is an octave lower so its got that THUD haha!
And thanks for the props on the other songs and the guitar tone, it wasnt that easy to get haha!

Very cool song! The name fits it perfectly, as I've always thought that crushingly low Meshuggahesque guitar tone just sounded pitch black as far as colors go. (I tend to associate them with tones, sounds etc)
I'd love to hear more of this kinda thing if you have it!
EDIT: Your cover of Rational Gaze is great too, sounds a lot like the original, which I'd imagine isn't easy to do. :p

Haha thanks! It wasnt that easy, the guitar tone was probably the hardest thing to get right...that and the drums, i had a hard time finding a good drum mix! I was going to finish the rest of the song, but all the drum midis i found for RG were wrong and i suck horribly at programming other people's drums!
Im working on more heavy heavy songs, but before those i plan to re-record Blind Ambivalence and complete Neurosane as well as record some other songs i have. That heavy 8 stringish stuff isnt that easy to compose! lol

Some good sounds on there. I too liked the ambient stuff (probably because it is bedtime as I listen to this)

Nice song, my friend. I really enjoyed what you did with Blind Ambivalence too. Fucking excellent! Give it a listen everyone. The only thing that grated a little was the snare sound, but apart from that it's top marks from me.

Amazing. And guitar tone is just lovely, VERY mushuggish.
Why the fuck all you people have to be that talented. That makes me sad

Haha guys wow, thanks a lot! On the Meshuggah forums i have a hard time competing with people like bulb/Periphery and TesseracT so i dont get much credit there but getting it here is great!
Juz, i plan on re-recording the rhythm parts and re-doing the drum mix on Blind Ambivalence and making them sound like the Rational Gaze drums.
I could die happier than anything if the Devman gave my stuff a listen =X

Wow, just listened for the first time.
This sounds really nice; ofcourse live drums will always sound better, but you programmed the EZ Drummer very well.
The guitartone is good, although I can imagine that you have to play very carefully if you downtune your 7string to F#.
Hope to see this evolve into a live band.

Actually tuning to Eb isnt even much of a chore! I have a .75 as my lowest string haha. Though it took a bit to get the bitch in my floyd saddle(i have it blocked up so i dont have to worry about tension)
As for the drums, yea i would love to use live drums, but if you listen to Blind Ambivalence i dont exactly make "easy" drum parts...namely the kick follows most of the guitar parts like Meshuggah's stuff.
I'm also hoping that i can get a live band going, i have a singer and POSSIBLE drummer, but nothing else at the moment.
Again guys thanks so much for the compliments! When i re-record Blind Ambivalence(and maybe make it longer) i will post it here as well!

I look forward to hearing it. Good luck with the possible drummer!
