Ok, not bombs.. but on the album there are some places where it feels like the bass "chokes" the rest of the mix in a way. Very cool effect. I heard someone mention that this had a name on another forum once, like "sub drops" or something like that, made by a compressor.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I`m interested in how this was done.

Check in this thread. Main ingredients are loud bassy samples. Choking bit is as far as I understand side effect of using such BIG sounds with excessive compression (with small headroom in the mix some sounds will overpower the others).
