It's derivative wank, but I quite enjoy it :D

Also, first time programming drums, so give me a break on that front

I also suck at mixing and mastering.

Sounds good, if a little repetitive in the first 2/3 or so. Reminds me of older Metallica for some reason. :) Nice progression of riffs and melodies, flows very nicely. A couple things though, you might want to make the snare in the loud parts less snappy; right now it just sounds like a deafening 'tick' sound without much substance (though I suppose that might be preference; snares tend to sound like that in a lot of modern productions, which I don't like at all but that's just me). Something with a bigger decay to it, more 'snare' behind just the attack would help a lot.

Also, you might consider double tracking your guitar for the heavy rhythm parts-- it's a pretty standard technique, and it will work wonders for your sound. Just two takes of the same part, one panned hard left and one hard right. :)

The guitars should be triple-tracked actually, in the first heavy riff I played three separate riffs, each one with a different note of the chord, over the top of each other. Maybe I forgot to pan them

And yeah, it's meant to have vocals, which should help with the repetition, but I generally suck at knowing when to end a certain part

I had trouble finding a snare sound I liked to be honest - my fundamental mastering skills don't really help in that situation :P It's something I'll have a look at though.

Cheers for listening! :D

Hey listening to you track now, it's pretty cool man, are you using Drumkit From Hell? Nice job on some of those fills and I love the second part of the song, nice melodies happening right there.

Check out a track I bashed together www.myspace.com/teslaearth

It's the frist track that plays.

Cheers, yeah, it's DfH. Amazing bit of kit.

Your stuff seems pretty cool mate. I wish I had some semblance of production skills.

Damn, I hate that part too. This usually means: sometuneversion33534646.mp3, say hello to "unfinished" folder, this will be your home from now.

Funny thing, snare sound like Ziltoid's one :). Ad mastering, it sounds pretty great to me, don't be so hard on your production skillz.

Haha, yep, I've got a couple of gigabytes of snippets now that I can't fit in anywhere

Cheers, I wasn't really going for the Ziltoid snare sound, but I think you're right actually :o Glad you didn't think the production was too shitty

I rather liked it.
Not entirely sure how to describe it. But that's generally a good thing, when I can't classify stuff... definitely a good track. Would be better with vocals, though, because it does drag on a tad without them.

Cheers for listening, glad you enjoyed it! Not sure when I'll get around to getting someone to do vocals, but rest assured I shall update when I do!

Your not far of dude, to be honest I use some pretty cool VST's that have great preset's that I dont have to fiddle with to much, which helps a lot on the production side of things. Thanks.
