Ki - Did not hook me the first time I listened to it. I have no idea why. I have no idea why I expected it (or anything) to on the first listen. Once Addicted came out I listened to them both over and over and fell in love with Ki. It has a texture to it that is just uncommon in my listenings, and I listen to a ton of music. IT always good to hear something new and especially when it comes from one of your heroes.

Addicted - Loved it IMMEDIATELY. I dunno what that says about me but the crunch got me right away, like an electromagnet switched on right next to my heavy metal brain, it pulled me to it and never let me go. Being a HUGE fan of Anneke's solo stuff, her being a part of it only made it all the more wonderful. The great part is that even when it's just Devin doing the songs, it's just as enjoyable.

Deconstruction - So weird. I mean that in a good way, like the way you felt when you watched the Vampira video for the first time. One part of your brain is thinking "lol what", meanwhile the other, larger, and more sensible part of your brain is preparing to smush out the other part of your brain that questioned it in the first place. It's still weird, but it has been in constant rotation at work. I listen to 15 or so albums a day at work and this album always finds its way in to my ear holes, no matter what kind of awful power tool noise is polluting the air around me.

Ghost - Beautiful. Handy. Smart. Compliments the other albums so well and stands as a shining example of exploration and creativity. I feel like I'm shortchanging the album by saying that because I Devin represents that thought process, the idea of limitless possibilities when it comes to one's work, but the album is just that. It works so well, whether you're hanging out, in a passenger seat on the way home on a long ride, tired, awake, feeling up, feeling down. I guess you could apply that to many things in life but Ghost is something I know I can reach for at any time. like bacon.

Ki- My all time favourite album, ever. Fell in love as soon as I heard Heaven Send. This album got me into Devin Townsend. I was in a rough patch mentally when I bought it, and the calming, restrained atmosphere Ki provided helped immensely in keeping my sanity. A Monday and Coast just capture everything I felt at that time. Heaven Send rocks my socks off, the combination of the following jam and Winter are sexy as fuck. Lady Helen/Ki is amazing. Demon League is spooky. Overall, a perfect album. 10/10

Addicted- I like it, but don't love it. Supercrush, Hyperdrive, Way Home and Awake are very good songs, other than that the album fails to 'grab' me, as such. The 'poppy' songs sound too synthetic, and lack the raw emotion of Ki. Sure, it's fun to listen to, but it's my least favourite of the four. 7/10

Decon- Well... I have no idea what to say. I had been waiting for this album for two years, wondering what it would be like. I was unprepared. The heaviness is different to SYL heaviness (duh), and it captures me instantly. I am a sucker for 'weird', confusing music. It will take a while to form an opinion, but for the moment, it's excellent. 9/10

Ghost- Instant classic. This and Ki are the standouts for me. I think it's one of the most sincere albums Dev has ever put out. This is where his heart lies now, and I can feel his happiness in the songs. I'm lost for words. A great achievement, and a fitting close to the DTP cycle. 9.5-10/10
