What most people do (IE everyone not on these forums)

1) See CD at record store
2) "Oh, cool, new Devin!" *buy*

or

1) Open iTunes/Zune/Amazon MP3 store
2) "Oh, cool, new Devin!" *buy*

Most people probably do not give a rat's ass about pre-ordering, lol.

I really don't know, i would guess that most people today see on some website (Facebook, Blabbermouth, whatever) that there`s a new Devin. If there's a direct link to a free streaming site plus the possibility of purchasing it with 3 clicks (options: compressed download only, uncompressed download or download + CD-(pre)order) i would guess that many people would listen to it a few times (if they are interested) and then buy it, if they have the money and want to support the artist (and i think thats the majority of people who care for music like Devin's). No need to search for illegal, leaked, transcoded, no-fake versions.

For example there was this post on Metalsucks ("Thot is hot") with such a link (to bandcamp or soundcloud, don't know) and one and a half listens later i just bought the cd-version of the Thot-CD for 15 bucks (+ flac-download). Listened to the flacs some days and with some distance i would say: ok, maybe i wouldn't have spent 15 $ for that after listening to it for a few days. It's a cool album but my enthusiasm lasted not very long. But it's fine, they deserve some support. But they "caught" me, because it was so simple.
Another example: I read that Devin suggested Xerath. I googled, found some youtube-vids. Only one worked, the others were blocked in my country by youtube because of stupid legal issues. I went to myspace, they want me to become a member, plus my computer keeps freezing on that shitty site. So, sorry Xerath, maybe you are great, but your chance is over for the moment. I have to look at other interesting things now. Maybe i try again sometimes.

But maybe it's just me and you are in fact right.

Sorry for being a bit off-topic.

Totally unrelated to everything, but I've noticed that most, if not all of my song covers and my friends song covers are unable to play in Germany. Weird copyright laws or something over there? (most ironic - His Rammstein covers can't be played in Germany)

Just had a reply back from omerch regarding their cd packaging...........{drum roll}

Hi,

They are sent in re-enforced CD mailers, and then put in a bag with your address label on it.

Regards

I think they misunderstood the question. :help:

I've replied back and tried to be a bit clearer

seriously, why is everyone so concerned about slip cases? you guys are really willing to buy the album twice just for a thin piece of cardboard? isn't it enough buying it now, and then rebuying it in the box set? i mean, why is everyone agonizing over so much "confusion"? the only differences i see with the preorders is an option to get a shirt or not and depending on which country you live in whether or not you care about getting the vinyl single. honestly, i love having a physical cd but i wouldn't stress over the packaging.

sorry, not trying to pick on anyone in particular but i think everyone needs to just calm down.

Obsessive fans, lol.

I bought Ki at a record store, and didn't get a slipcase, then pre-ordered Ki and got a slipcase + signed booklet, and now I have pre-ordered Decon/Ghost from CMDistro, which doesn't include individual slipcases. I couldn't care less, because like I said earlier in the thread, I will be ripping these CDs and then shoving them in my closet.

If people don't want to choose the style of CD packaging they want then that's perfectly fine.
If others care about what they are getting then, surely, that's perfectly fine too.

Some of us with big Dev collections would like to have both styles. Simple as that, really.

I actually really want the vinyl. Not really too fussed about the slipcase deal but I can sometimes be a sucker for pretty artwork. Anyone got any idea whether the vinyl will become available individually after the presale bundles finish? If not, who wants to sell me theirs? :)

Yes. The singles from both albums, being Juular and Feather.

Just wondering, is it confirmed Europeans won't be able to get the cm-distro special or ultimate package ?
Even when the paypall date (21st, tomorrow) has been reached?
