The place to speak about Dev's current projects, and everything yet to come

The acoustic show was incredible. It lasted closer to 3 hours if you include waiting for signings and stuff - Dev was up on stage for at least 2 hours though. He played a bunch of stuff off Ki, as well as stopping halfway to try and figure out a song from Ghost that he stuffed up (which he then spent the next 15 minutes working out till he got it right), and then finished the set after about an hour. The rest of the time was Devin answering questions from the crowd (mainly about Deconstruction and the upcoming tour) while playing us some demos from Decon and Ghost.

And MAN am I excited for those two now. Couldn't have asked for a better set, and I even got a (blurry) picture of me with Dev. If you read this, thanks for coming out Dev, it was fantastic.

Now, time to get back to real life after the last 2 nights... :?

I was at the acoustic show :)

Guys...Let there be no doubt that Deconstruction is gonna fucking KILL.
Dev played probably 20mins or more of demos for it last night of his laptop

All I can say is...holy shit.
THIS is the Devin I have been waiting for to return. Batshit insane music.
'Course, we'll have to wait another year or so for the touring to get out of the way first.

But last night was a life highlight :)

I uploaded some more on the previous page from the acoustic show.

Holy Heck, you DID go overboard, Anwar!
Exceptional pics Sir, and well done again in organising the get-together at the Exford. It was a great preparation for a brill show.

Acoustic show was awesome. Dev is a legend. Took time out to meet everyone and say hello.
The Decon demos sound insane. Felt so privileged to hear the songs before they are released and in the working stages.
If you see this Dev, thanks heaps for the photo, signing and gig!

I came back from Europe early to get to the Melbourne show; but by that time the accoustic show was well and trully full :( If only I had checked my computer!!!

Sunday night was awesome, a definite life moment as someone else mentioned. So bummed I didn't get a face-to-face chat with you Dev; would have been a life changer to shake your hand. Maybe next time?

totally agree there (I was at the brisbane gig) it was heavy, very heavy, but utterly funtastically entertaining. :)

great pics too! specially the gurning ;) (sorry dev ;) ) what lense/body were you using? I really need to get my sorry ass back into gig photography :) although i always found that I'd end up focusing more on getting the best shot than enjoying the gig when i did :) hope you found time to jump about like a crazy person too mr grin!

I'm currently using a Canon 1000D with two standard lenses and a 50mm fixed F/1.6 lens. I'm going to purchase a new body soon.

I've been doing this kind of photography for about 2 years now, but I did a lot of amateur photography beforehand with a digital still camera. You can check out more of my work at the link below.

Boy am I glad I turned up to the acoustic gig. I didn't have a registration, but I turned up on a wing and a prayer and, luckily, a bunch of people decided not to turn up for whatever reason, so me and about 10 others all got in easily. As has been described, it was an amazing set; the demo's played from Decon and the music played from Ghost were extraordinary. I'm actually a bit more excited about Ghost at this stage! The song he played with the slide (Radio Free Highway, I think it was called) is going to be an instant Dev-classic in the vein of Bad Devil. Fucking fantastic song, even though he's still figuring it out! :)

It was great to meet him afterwards, but I was so nervous that I ended up getting blurry photos of my brother, and his one of me wasn't much better, hehe. Thanks Dev for letting us have a few go's!

After that, we were wandering back to the car and who pops out of the 7-11? None other than RVP, Brian and Dave! We chatted for about 20 minutes on the fucking street, and I happened to have a copy of Synchestra and AE in my bag from the signing! I asked if they wouldn't mind signing and some girls walked by at that moment and Brian was like: "No problem at all dude! Bring it on ;)" LOL. Only too happy Beav, hehe. Anyway, those dudes are the coolest. We talked about the rigours of playing such a long set on harldy any sleep and various things about touring, recording and working with Dev. Actually, my digipack version of Synchestra was a curiosity to them - they hadn't seen some of the artwork that appeared in mine! We must have got something slightly different here in Australia, in terms of the artwork layout, so that was a bit of a surprise.

So, here endeth the best 2 days of my life and the Devin Townsend Experience for now.

Amazing pics Anwar. I am so happy that someone had the patience and commitment to do that at both those shows. Might have to get in touch with you about getting a print or two at some stage mate. They are phenomenal. Thanks bro :)
