Behold, the wall of polls! http://devymadness2013.blogspot.com/

Voting will close on Monday at 10:00 AM ET

Here we are, the last round of the album qualifiers. The tourney picture is much clearer now, but there's still five matches that need to be settled. Which songs receive the auto-bid? Who will get their hearts broken? Only you can decide.

Group Three Semifinal Matchups
The Ghost's Deconstruction just got Epicloud(er). Would you like some Ass-Sordid Leftovers with that?

Deconstruction: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/676257ad0c9f4
#3 Deconstruction vs. #5 Poltergeist: Poltergeist unexpectedly thrashed the Mighty Masturbator. Can it survive Deconstruction, or will it get deconstructed?

Ghost: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/c19d81111c9f4
#1 Feather vs. #3 Ghost: Once again, against my better judgement, I'm picking against Feather. But in this case, I really do love Ghost.

Epicloud: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/5a6e5f4a79f05
#1 Grace vs #2 Where We Belong: Grace got a stiff challenge from Liberation, and Where We Belong aims on taking Grace back where it belongs: Behind the woodshed. Just kidding, I love Grace and I couldn't resist another terrible pun. But there is no real loser in this matchup.

Epiclouder: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/601ae81b79f05
#1 Happy Birthday vs #2 Heatwave: Holy Hankies, Hot Hal! We've got ourselves a hoedown. Or a hootenanny. Or perhaps it's a hoenanny. This matchup is especially critical, as it is very likely that Epiclouder will only get one song in the Tournament.

Ass-Sordid Leftovers: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/8792dadcdcbf4
#1 Om (Christeen) vs #3 Processional: We might as well have just called this tournament the "+4 Demos" tournament, because that's what this boils down to. Or at least it would if Sit In The Mountain didn't already receive an automatic bid. Either way, much like Epiclouder, the Ass-Sordid Leftovers will almost certainly be only sending one song to the Tourney.

Behold, the wall of polls! http://devymadness2013.blogspot.com/

The album qualifiers are now OVER. Winners of the album tournaments, in addition to the four automatic bids from the Ass-Sordid Championships (Sit In The Mountain, Watch You, Ocean Machines and Juno), can be seen below. The bracket for Devy Madness will be announced this week, most likely by Wednesday. The songs have been finalized, but they still need to be seeded.

The bracket is more or less done; I need to do some checking to make sure I didn't fuck anything up. But here's some notable info that won't change:

-The #1 seeds, in order, are:
Deep Peace
The Death Of Music
Poltergeist
Triumph

-Three songs from Ocean Machine are a 1 or 2 seed (DOM, Funeral, Bastard)

-Albums received the following amount of bids (alphabetical order):
Accelerated Evolution: 5
Addicted: 5
Deconstruction: 6
Epicloud: 3
Epiclouder: 1
Ghost: 5
Infinity: 4
Ki: 6
Ocean Machine: 7
Physicist: 2
Synchestra: 4
Terria: 6
Ziltoid: 5
Christeen + 4 Demos: 2
Contain Us (Stuff That Was Almost Stuff): 2
Ass-Sordid Demos 1990-1996: 1

Behold, the wall of polls! http://devymadness2013.blogspot.com/
And more importantly, the bracket! http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/d1782de9ce715

Voting will remain open until 10 AM ET on Monday.

Putting the bracket together was quite the arduous process, but it was nonetheless a lot of fun, and I'm quite happy with how this turned out. Now we just gotta get some publicity on this sumbitch. In this set of voting, the left side of the bracket will be covered. And with that, here's the first round previews:

Terria Regional:
#1 Deep Peace (Auto bid, Terria) vs
#16 Bad Devil (4th song from Infinity):
Fittingly, Deep Peace gets the overall #1 seed after winning last year's Devy Madness, and running over the rest of Terria. Bad Devil lost to Truth in the album qualifiers. Deep Peace should romp.

#8 Color Your World (4th song from Ziltoid) vs
#9 Storm (3rd song from Accelerated Evolution):
The first of many tossup matches. Not quite sure which one has the upper hand here.

#5 Seventh Wave (4th song from Ocean Machine) vs
#12 Planet Rain (2nd song from Physicist):
Seventh Wave was impressive in the Ocean Machine tourney, nearly pulling off the upset against #1-seeded Bastard. Some may say Planet Rain was undefeated, but in many ways, given the underwhelming results Physicist put up in the "Favorite album" poll, it is very lucky to even be in the field. This is the chance for Physicist to shock the world.

#4 Where We Belong (Auto bid, Epicloud) vs
#13 Juular (4th song from Deconstruction):
I will be very surprised if Juular can take out Where We Belong, but it is possible.

#6 Watch You (2nd song from Ass-Sordids) vs
#11 Sunday Afternoon (5th song from Accelerated Evolution):
Here's an interesting tossup match; Sunday Afternoon nearly made the Accelerated Semis, while Watch You gave Sit In The Mountain all it could handle.

#3 Feather (Auto bid, Ghost) vs
#14 Lady Helen (6th song from Ki):
I feel like Lady Helen got a raw deal here, because as much as I love that song, I see no chance of it taking out Feather.

#7 Numbered (2nd song from Addicted) vs
#10 Grace (2nd song from Epicloud):
The finalists from two albums go toe-to-toe right off the bat. In many ways, this feels like an album death match to me.

#2 Funeral (3rd song from Ocean Machine) vs
#15 Judgement (4th song from Synchestra):
Funeral should run away with this one, but I've always underestimated Judgement.
__________________________________________________________________________
Synchestra Regional:
#1 Triumph (auto bid, Synchestra) vs
#16 Sumeria (6th song from Deconstruction):
Triumph ran over the Synchestra competition, but it gets a tough draw in Sumeria. I expect Triumph to...uh...triumph.

#8 Ocean Machines (3rd song from Ass-Sordids) vs
#9 Life (5th song from Ocean Machine):
Talk about a tough matchup; there's so much unknown about how Ocean Machines will perform in this environment, and it draws a song from Ocean Machine. Oh, the irony.

#5 Kingdom (Auto bid, Physicist) vs
#12 Tiny Tears (6th song from Terria):
Sound the upset horns! Well, I am, anyway.

#4 Truth (Auto bid, Infinity) vs
#13 Planet Smasher (5th song from Ziltoid)
I am quite curious to see how this plays out, but I expect Truth to survive.

#6 Canada (3rd song from Terria) vs
#11 Winter (5th song from Ki):
Winter took Ki right to the edge in the qualifiers, but can it handle Canada? I'm not sure one way or the other.

#3 Supercrush (Auto bid, Addicted) vs
#14 War (3rd song from Infinity):
War emerged from the 6th seed in the Infinity bracket to make Devy Madness; Supercrush continues to show why it represents Addicted in its quest for recognition. Who shall be victorious?

#7 Ghost (2nd song from Ghost) vs
#10 Mighty Masturbator (3rd song from Deconstruction):
How the mighty have fallen; it had a chance at getting a top-3 seed and fell back to earth in a hurry. Ghost could put it out of its misery early.

#2 Bastard (2nd song from Ocean Machine) vs
#15 Kingdom (3rd song from Epicloud):
Kingdom 2 barely squeaked into the field, making the field only because it lost to Epicloud Champion Where We Belong. While Liberation had a good case to make the field, I don't think the end result would have been all that different; Bastard's going to win this.

Like this? :) Next time round I think we could do this from the start. It's a bit of a shame we didn't think of it before this one got underway.

Also, the setup of the page is a bit strange. It would be much easier if we didn't have to vote each time per song (or rather 2 songs), but instead fill out the entire list and then vote once. Or have I been doing it wrong the whole time...?

Thanks!

And the only other way I could think of to improve voting would be to have a website similar to the annual Metal Madness tournaments. Alas, I have absolutely zero knowledge of advanced web design; I just know really basic stuff.

Meanwhile, it seems we have some Banes out there; BOTH #1 seeds fell in the left side of the bracket, and there were a lot of other upsets in this round. Deep Peace is gone, which means we will have a new Devy Madness champion when it's all said and done. And we haven't even finished the first round yet.

Voting will remain open until Sunday at 1 PM ET.

I'll try to put up some previews, but I'm on a bit of a time crunch this week.
