I have a feeling as time goes by he'll start throwing more SYL in his setlists. Since I never had the chance to see SYL, I can always hope he plays Japan or Spirituality sometime with DTP.

I've seen SYL on several occasions so it's probably different for me, but I dunno... I feel weird about them playing SYL songs without the boys up there.

Devin on Twitter:

So just wanted to say: yeah, I played Love in South America and it was a mistake. I didn't think it through as I had said I wouldn't again.

I figured it had not been played there before so I'd do it as a 'cover tune'. But it just confuses people. It won't be played again.

Not surprising at all. I watched the clip and it just felt... wrong to me.

Dev works best when he trusts his instincts (in my shitty, meaningless opinion) and clearly his instincts have told him for a long time now to put SYL to bed and tuck the sheets in extra tight.

The Strapping aggression I agree wasn't there, but it looks like the crowd had a blast, and it wasn't a bad "cover", in my view anyway.

Hoping when he returns here he might consider playing something from Epiclouder; that would be fun.

IMO, if Devin would have not said "no" in the first place, and had been playing the occasional SYL song since he started touring again a few years ago, I think a lot of the "OMG WE NEED REUNIONS!" would have probably been lessened by now. It's just like with any former band members who start a new band and play some of their old bands popular songs. Yeah, people freak out and want a reunion still, but many are silenced just by getting to hear the songs live that they want to hear.

It's not a unique situation. I've seen Skindred oodles of times and I can't tell you how many times I've heard people shriek "DUBWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR DUUUUUUUUUUUUBWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!"

I'm the same, never had the chance to see it and wish I had. Then again, if Dev doesn't want to play it then I'd rather he didn't play SYL. He can obviously make great setlists without resorting to SYL material so if he wants to keep it that way then good on him.
