I ran into a rabbi, him and I got into a discussion about the role of djentiles in djewish tradition.

Turns out I didn't know all that much about the book of Djenesis.

My understanding was that Fredrik Thordendal made up the term djent but just to describe the tone. It got picked up and now it is what it is. It's going to burn itself out unless people take it somewhere a little broader I think. I love Animals as Leaders and Cloudkicker's first album, and Misha is a mofo, but I hope the sound evolves a little more.

I want people to hear deconstruction from the perspective of heavy music being a valid musical style. So many times metal gets pigeonholed as a kind of drugged out, hescher type deal. You know the score, some arrogant goof that smells like expensive soap and listens to kings of Leon or kieth urban and assumes that when you say you play heavy music you're in assless chaps and playing in a motley Crüe cover band.

I'd like people to hear this and say 'wow...' and saying 'fuck' every third word just ostracises it more and reinforces stereotypes.

Plus, I've recorded myself screaming the word 'fuck' more than most as it is... I want to make a statement that says heavy music is a valid musical format, and you can be intense by using your tact in terms of lyrics rather than brute force.

I'll take inspiration from suns colliding... When galactic events occur, its a primal energy... not some tiny dude screaming 'suck a dick you fuckers!'

I hope people will hear it for the precision and intensity rather than be offended by the content and not hear it at all.

3 posts in a row, I'm coming off like a total brown-nose, but I'm honestly grateful for this. Pecker to the concrete-"FUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCK" has been done, and it has it's purpose, but it tends to take away from the validity of a genre. Understatement can be twice as powerful as falling into the common trail of "fuck this, cunt that." I'd rather listen to the sound of astral bodies imploding than simple foul language at this point, so bring it on!
