I'm going to the Nottingham gig tonight & wondered if anyone can tell me if there's a support band, what are they like and what the stage times have been so far.

Thanks :D

Aeon Zen.
At Southampton (if I remember rightly) they were on about 8:10 to 8:50/55ish, the penultimate song they played was pretty damn good in an epic way, with some enjoyable vocals from the Bass Player
Devy came on sometime after 9 until 11pm.
Sorry this is slightly vague but I wasn't watching the clock :)
The merch wasn't too expensive either

Aeon Zen get some pretty good press but I've never heard them so I'll have to check them out.

Thanks for the reply!

Were Aeon Zen any good? I got there in time for Dev's set but I missed theirs. Some guy I talked to said they were crap because they just rip off other bands. I seem to remember checking their myspace out a while back (for the simple reason that I got given a free promotional t-shirt of theirs) and thinking "decent enough but sounds like 1000 other prog metal bands".

I still haven't slept since the gig, lol. Damn you, internet.

Also did anyone else see when "LOVE" flashed up on the screen during DTP's set during some other song (either Deep Peace or The Greys, I think) and hope for a second that they were going to play some SYL?

Aeon Zen were pretty much as you heard described. If I was being very critical, I'd say; a cheesy version of Ayreon without the variety in musical styles.

Having said that, they could clearly play their instruments and the singer did a good job of warming the crowd up but Pain of Salvation they ain't!

Cheesy and fun prog-power metal. I'm usually quite disinterested in support bands, but these guys got me going.

They're unintentionally hilarious. Competent but over-indulgant, cliche'd and as was mentioned, the bassist's death metal vocals will make your jaw drop, shortly before you piss youself. :-)

I could only handle a couple of songs from Aeon Zen , pretty boring if ya ask me , the singer was so cheesy and quoting "come on I wanna see some fist pumping" , so I went outside Rock City for a ciggy and ended up chatting with Ryan , Dev was great tho , dodgy sound in places tho , seemed like the guitars had no treble at times and vocals needed to be louder , but it was a good gig , his dj set at midnight was cool and he was doing silly dancing to Judas priest - Exciter. Met him after that around 2am ish , got a pic of him strangling me for shits n giggles lol , great to talk to as always , roll on Bloodstock again \m/

I thought Zen were pretty good. I think their being cheesy and cliché is probably intentionnal and they sure have got some talent. I haven't listened to all their songs but if Dev chose them as support they can't be bad, I guess.

First time I saw them I wasn't sure, but last night I really did enjoy em. I reckon they are intentionally cheesy, but they were a lot of fun. And as you said, if Dev chose them then they can't be that bad.
