I don't know about anyone else but I'm getting a little annoyed at who's chosen to open for the DTP and also who they've been touring with. We all know he was in SYL which was great but he only recorded 5 studio albums with them, less than half of what he's done outside of SYL. I'd much rather see more progressive rock type bands open for him rather than these bands that lean more towards death metal. 90% of the time these bands take themselves far too seriously and don't really mesh well with the DTP.

I think 3 would work as an opener for the DTP

It's Anathema, if some of the east coast dates are to be believed.

Tesseract wasn't a poor choice for touring last go around. So as far as North American headlining tours (y'know, actual Devy bills, not ones where he's oddly supporting CoB or BTBAM) that's all you have to really contend with, and I think both are fine. Scale the Summit seem like they might work.

I'm getting old quickly, though, and I have no idea what's cool now that'd fit the bill.

Either that, or having a multitude of side projects going on!

Since I'm listening to Fables of the Sleepless Empire right now, it hit me - I think Unexpect would be a great opener for Devin. They're definitely pretty heavy, overall, but their music has that sort of... quirky? aspect to it that Dev's does as well. I think they'd both get along fine with each other, were they to wind up on the same tour.

I've always wanted The Wildhearts and King's X to open up. That would be amazing!

I wouldn't mind Dev just playing by himself, 1 big set. or maybe 2 sets, play one take a break then come back and "finish this"

Textures would make an awesome support band. They are progressive/technical death metal from the Netherlands, quite a bit like Gojira, or a more upbeat Meshuggah.

Sadly, I don't think they are planning a tour until after the new album is recorded at the end of the year. Can't be certain though.

Oh, and I should mention that Textures have a new album out on Sept 27, so may be looking to tour around this time.
