Now that services such as HDTracks are becoming increasingly more popular, it would be nice if Dev followed this path and released 24-bit FLAC's of his albums. So far, the only stuff of his we've been able to hear in 24-bit were the By A Thread DVD's, as well as the multitracks for Juular and Bend It Like Bender!, and I suspect the Retinal Circus Blu-ray will also feature 24-bit stereo and 5.1 tracks. What do you guys think? Dev has been re-releasing some of his old stuff, like the SYL vinyl box set for Blood Music, so it would be a good idea if he uploaded his albums in this high-res format. I just wanna hear exactly what comes out of his Mackie monitors!
If I'm not mistaken, the flood of '04 ruined quite a lot of the master tapes, so I don't know.
There was a flood that destroyed Dev's studio? I had no idea.
ya. long ass time ago. could potentially be feasible for anything post AE
it's not impossible for flowers to bloom and grow next to graves, and babies are born in the same buildings where people go to pass away
indeed, we don't know if any high quality transfers were done with the tapes prior to the flood. it seems Infinity may have been, since its vinyl issue on Back to Black/Plastichead seems to be above 44.1kHz. source materials for the other vinyl issues seem to have been from the CDs.
seems like someone else would have to take the lead on this

I asked Devin on twitter and he said that his records were recorded in 44,1/16 quality.
All of them. So I don't think he could release it in 96/24 quality.

Okay, that makes sense, but, then again, the Contain Us multitracks were in 24/48, which leads me to believe at least the last few DTP records were recorded in 24-bit.
