Hey guys, Dev here.

...man, I've been up to my balls in work getting ready for touring. It's stressful, it's exciting, it's expensive, it's heartwrenching, and it demands me to fight every day.

...I'm ready!

I'd like to say that I think about you all, it's been a productive year, and I want to thank you all for supporting my freaky visions when there's really no incentive for you to do so other than being cool, and maybe wanting it to continue.

I loaded all the gear into the truck to the airport today, the guys were all working, so I was elected to do the stair-guitar cab trip. I've all but given up on things turning some sort of magical corner and the work-to-jamming ratio becoming easier, but I love what I do, I love what I write, and I'm glad to have existed for 20 years doing this without becoming a radio rock hack.

I have some floydian aspirations for the live show, and the only way to make it happen is to believe it's going to happen, and lift lots of cabs ...I'm a pretty scatterbrained fellow, so I'm sure theres other ways...but that seems to be my most immediate solution.

I got a copy of Final Cut Express for the live visuals, plus some help from some other people, and I have a protools rig so I'll keep it coming...Deconstruction and Ghost are REALLY great imo, but my records seem to be becoming (hopefully) more of an advertisement for the live shows, so I can illustrate an experience with a ton of musical dynamics.

I'm playing an acoustic set for Alvarez at Namm, the first of many hopefully in my 'one man show', Peavey is releasing this big baritone V for me on the 15th and I have high hopes for that relationship.

The holidays were a little rough in all honesty...I had to travel for rehearsal and only spent the 24th and 25th with my family, and the rain and cold jam spot has not been stellar for my mood, but honestly...I'm committed to doing this properly, and I really am excited to tour sober, and see what I've been missing.

Rehearsal video will be up in the next two days so you can see we're for real, no overdubs or fixes...and it sounds really great imo.

Again, thank you for the time, ears, and patience. I'm a work in progress and pretty scattered, but I love music.

Dev, I'm pretty sure San Francisco can't handle another earthquake of this magnitude

I'm bringing my friend Flo to the show, she's very much a novice to all things in the heavy genre but she enjoyed Bend it Like Bender and a few other songs I gave her, so we should be front and center.

So yeah, I'll be the goofy one grinning stupidly next to the chick who's getting freaked out by all the sweaty dudes bumping into her.

Nice end of year round off there Dev. Good luck with the tour.

If more artists cared as much about their audience as you obviously do, music (in general) would be so much better. Good luck on continued success (whatever form best suits you and your family) in 2010!

As a fan this is a crazy experience. A lot of emotions.

It would be great if you could give us HDFers a heads up on any acoustic shows. Even if it's at the last minute. But whatever I'll see you in Atlanta next Saturday.

Without wishing to trivialise whatsoever - there are thousands who never would have thought reading these words likely; once the SYL machine passed into legend some years back - its originator stepping aside to sample life as a normal suburban human being. Now these thousands appreciate what is involved: leaving your home - to come and visit us where we live, and share dem freaky visions with us once more.

Awesome. I'm going drag everybody I know to your shows, whether they want to be there or not.

No, it should be US thanking YOU, Dev, for your gift of consistently astounding, jawdropping music, and then bringing it to us live. And especially from we Aussies for not forgetting about us, even though it's probably 30 hours on a plane for you! We're breathless with anticipation for your March headlining shows....
