The place to speak about Dev's current projects, and everything yet to come

There is an unofficial Devin Townsend IRC channel on undernet, which often has members from the HevyDevy Forums online.

Before now, it has been less than obvious here on the forum to find the details on how to connect there, and also using mIRC or similar software to access the chat room is known to be a bit of a pain for first time users.

So I have uploaded a java web version for forum members to use which is available at http://hevydevy.fira.at if anyone feels like it.

Feel free to bookmark it or whatever, maybe an admin here will make this a sticky somewhere so this thread won't get lost in the depths of the board within a few days.

As usual, please be polite and friendly on IRC, just as you would be here too. Lets see if we can all have some fun together online! :)

Maybe we could even get some of the band to pop in and say hello from time to time. (hint hint!) ;)

There is no registering required to join the chat room, but it would be appreciated if you used your board nick when you join, so we know who is who.

Since this IRC applet is java, you will need to have Java installed on your machine. You can get that from here : http://www.java.com

See you online :)

well, its fixed. 100% working, no limitations or anything.
actually this was quite hard, since the website that originally made this java irc applet seems to have dissapeared.

i was looking into reverse engineering class files so i could remove the restriction, when i suddenly thought of one quicker thing to try :

google cache, and the perfect search term to get my result ;)

awesome!

happy IRC-ing dudes!

Alright first of all, this topic belongs in General Discussion, not here.

Second of all, we already have an IRC channel: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6371
I don't see the point of making another one. Yes, you'll need an IRC client for that but at least it'll work properly, based on my own experiences those java browser applets only work about 1/3 of the time.

So yeah, if you're up for a chat, pop in the Undernet IRC channel :D

ok, well now there is another one of them...

(the other one doesnt seem to work though)

this one i have made will give you teh choice between eu.undernet and us.undernet servers.

maybe a mod can move this topic over to teh right forum? (sorry about that)

since the version i put online was obviously NOT cracked, i decided to use the internet archives to go look for the site files which did work. forunatly, i found the HTML file, config file, JAR and CAB file and they were downloadable.

ive been testing it, and seems to work, although now i need to make the html file look like the one i made before...

i guess this thread can be closed or deleted, as biert pointed out, its in the wrong forum anyway.

when ive fixed everything, it will be at the url ive given in my first post, and also in my sig.
