Couple of questions:
1) When can we pre-order Ghost and Decon.
2) Is there going to be a DTP box set? If/when?

I'm hoping for limited / web exclusive versions of both albums... And a nice cd/t-shirt or hoodie combo!
But make the hoodie zipper better than the Addicted one please

We'll just have to wait and see what comes up

He's addressed action figures before. As much as I'd love to have them myself, it seems that goes against his ideals.

"...They wanted to do action figures . . . then it becomes like Gene Simmons or Ozzy Osbourne, or it becomes this big marketing scheme. I’m cool if it sells a couple of copies. But in terms of it becoming a product, [it’s] not really something that interests me.

A lot of people tell me I’m foolish for not taking it to that direction. It’s the same thing as Strapping. “You’re foolish for not taking it to the next level.” But as soon as you choose to take it to that level, then you’re committing to that forever. It’s not that I dislike it. There’s so many things that I want to do that I honestly feel I don’t have the time or patience to take one thing to the next level. “OK, if you did, then you’ll make all the money in the world to be able to do all of your other stuff.” I’m like, “It certainly hasn’t made Axl Rose’s side projects see the light of day.” He’s cursed to be Axl Rose now. James Hetfield is cursed to be James Hetfield. He’d rather be a dude who puts out music."

If Dev was selling the amount of albums those guys do, I could see the problem. If something like action figures were made, how many would he actually sell? I don't think he has to worry about something like Ziltoid becoming so big it became a "product." It would just be another piece of promotional merchandise, like a shirt or a coffee mug. Dev just isn't as popular as those guys, so I couldn't ever see it becoming something that got out of control.

Now, I guarantee that if marketed correctly, it is possible for Ziltoid to become much, much bigger. I think the character has a lot to offer, and can be marketed in many different ways. However, do we need Ziltoid lunch boxes or shower curtains? No. That would never be allowed to happen, anyway.

A limited edition action figure or statue would be fine, I think. Just a one-time deal, limited to something like 5,000 pieces. Maybe include it in a box set or something.

Personally, I'm hoping for a Ziltoid coffin. :guitar:

1) About 1 or 2 months before release I guess. If Ki and Addicted are anything to go by, that is.
2) Yes, but I wouldn't count on it just a few months after Ghost and Deconstruction are released. Not just for marketing reasons but also because a lot of the bonus stuff would have to be compiled/edited/produced/etc. I'd be (positively) surprised if it were released within a year of Ghost and Decon.

I see. Who are "they" in the beginning? Fans or business people? And was the figure in in question Ziltoid or the Strapping guys?
I can see where he's getting at... but I hope there is a middle ground as in limited numbers of copies.. hehe. ( by the way I just bought a limited edition Dio photo memoir book)
