I only hope that we get to see a video of one of these!

Perhaps this will be the only time that Ziltoid performs in the flesh, though I hope not.

Or just right-click the photo already linked, and change the URL.

The photos start here:

http://www.bspix.fr/metal/Groupe/Ziltoi ... n%2001.jpg

They end here:

http://www.bspix.fr/metal/Groupe/Ziltoi ... n%2015.jpg

Now just change the URL for 2002–2014. I'm a geenyus!

Icon of a good part of the specialized press, Devin Townsend continues an atypical course in the world of metal. It was thus impossible for me not to go to the meeting of this mysterious character, come to Paris to present its last is delirious "Ziltoid The Omniscient".

There are appointments not to miss, and on this Thursday May 3, misfortune with those which could not (or worse, want not to..) answer the invitation of Replica, to attend the press conference of Devin Townsend at the Hard rock Cafe.

There in plenty time (for once!), I enter the living room reserved for this kind of meeting and, surprise; a puppet theatre is drawn up instead of the usual table together with water microphones and bottles! No the doubt, the mental state of our Canadian friend has not changed.

At the bar, Devin expresses the cause, beret screwed on head (I must describe all today because I had neither photo equipment, nor camera, in short, I have regret and remorse!) but it is with Ziltoid that we have appointment.
The guests arrive at the room and all shoot the the same smile upon seeing the stage.

19.30, Devin passes behind the castelet and to the sound of "ZTO", to emerge here in front of our eyes incrédules, Ziltoid himself. Obviously, for the questions, little of that went on. Imagine posing a question to a puppet made of plastic that's explaining to you how it comes from the fourth dimension, that it wants coffee and to prove to all the humans that it plays of the guitar like anybody, while having sometimes existential problems plunging it in abysses of perplexity! A thousand thanks to our courageous brother (he who I have just discussed, "Ziltoid".)
After good fifteen minutes, and always in front of a audience (and frankly more hilarious by the minute), Ziltoid is withdrawn... and Devin appears.
And there, we pass from a small burlesque show to a project of a rare intensity, disturbingly intense, obviously exhausted and telling us why in this project (after the birth of his son, he used it to make money, but he grew tired of this because it made it a job). It explains to us the irony behind him to handling this puppet (built by himself in three months), he who feels the burden of years of the puppets of a business who obviously destroy it (recording studios, equipment, merchandising etc.) and well as other things still.
Upright, elongating the one moment before being born again and becoming again a delirious character (not, sexually, there are nothing between him and Ziltoid..), the show is delivered without reserve, speaking to us with an infinite tenderness of the respect and admiration he has for his accomplice Gene Hogland (who he could work well with in company of Steve Vai!) even if Strapping Young Lad return, it is not tomorrow, he does not want to reform the group for bad reasons (fame).
Shit, sorry. I would translate the rest but I'm getting kicked off. Sorry.

My french sucks but I'll try to pick up where he left off

-

In fact the room was dismayed when Devin gave the news of how he hopes his career will go (no more tours, living in City in northern Canada, recording CDs himself and then releasing them on the internet without doing any interviews or promo tours).

After this long confession, Devin lent himself to a long session of photos with warmth and happiness. A big moment with him in which I understood why he would benefit from a push from the side of the press. Devin shows a purity, an unimaginable love for his art.
R E S P E C T

PS. After seeing the public laugh at Devin's puppet and his jokes, I couldn't stop myself form thinking about the image of metalheads as dangerous, violent and sad.

yeah my french is really bad and thats my first time I've ever tried to translate somethign ^^
