The next to last section of By Your Command,
4:35-6:30.

Rivals anything hes done as his best work to date.
Really. Go listen to it again.
I am.

I'd have to go back and listen, but you are probably right. Now that its been a year since it came out, I think its probably one of the most solid albums he's ever released, which really took me by surprise. I thought it was just going to be some random joke album, not some epic rock opera.

Side-by-side with the last verse of Color Your World, dude. Epic proportions.

As for whole Zilty, difference between epic, groundshaking flavour of music and tongueincheekness of theme still makes my brain go bluescreen.

But I agree with Amerikraut. It's awesome, I love the buildup.

I must confess that I think Ziltoid is Devin's best solo album since Ocean Machine. I really loved Infinity, Physicist, Terria and Synchestra. But when I first listened to Ziltoid, I felt like I first listened to OM: totally overwhelmed Especially Hyperdrive, that one could be on OM, too.

yay, that's indeed a masterpiece. that hectic guitar lick that runs in the background from 4:35 on grabbed my attention the very first time i heard it.
i agree with everyone that ziltoid is one of his strongest albums, but i must admit that i's probably like it better if the drums sounded a bit more human. still, the atmosphere of the whole record is unrivaled.
i recommend listening to it in a sleepy mood, when the mind is about to leave the real world. there's so much stuff going on that works best with that strange state of mind you have while falling asleep or refusing to wake up completely.

Agreed, except I actually like 6:30 to the end more. :D
