Kawaii Discussion!

So i've listened to Kawaii about 10,000 times in the past few days and i've come to the decision that it's my favorite (right along Ghost, Blackberry, and Fly). I feel that this song captured me the most because of it's strong opening and powerful vocals. It's unlike the rest of the album because of how it opens and it's length (except for Dark matters).
I was so captured by this song that i figured out the guitar parts, and doing that made me more attracted to the song.
I was just wondering if this song captured anyone else in this way and what ya'lls thoughts are.

I love this song. The more I listen to it, the more I am amazed by Devin's voice.

This song caught my eye back when he first played it live at some acoustic gigs, because Kawaii is one of the few words I remembered from when I tried to learn to speak Japanese.

The song itself is BEAUTIFUL. I'd love to learn how to play it, but I'm a bassist, not a guitarist, hehe.

One thing i found intresting ( and i could be wrong) is when i went to learn this song i figured it out in open D tuning, instead of Devin's most common open C tuning. Weird :?

So then I think it's easiest to pop a capo on the 2nd fret (or 3rd if you're in open B) instead of retuning the whole thing to open D. Not to mention the increased chance of strings breaking with such high tensions (or even the neck deforming).

My 2nd favourite song on the album behind Blackberry!

It was the song that hit me first, and is still in my top 3 songs. An adorable and uplifting song. A quick fix of happiness.

Well Open C is C-G-C-G-C-E
And Open D is D-A-D-F#-A-D
And Open C with a capo on 2 is D-A-D-A-D-F#
So it's a little different

I saw a video of him playing Kawaii in a bookstore (coffee shop)and he didn't have a capo. But i could be wrong about the tuning. Only he knows 8)

Ahh right, I brainfarted and forgot open D is actually different from open C. I was thinking along the lines of open B, open C, open D.. all the same. :P

The title still confuses me... it gives me more of an image of Japanese girls shopping for clothes rather than soulful acoustic ballad.

I didn't even know that Kawaii was Japanese until someone told me. I just though that it was supposted to be Hawaii with a "K" for some reason.
