Kingdom, Namaste, Material, those are my votes. I think one of the other reasons they dont play them songs any more is cause that whole album is in a different tuning than the majority of Devs other work.

They do Vampira on the new so they're already switching tunings mid show anyway.

Hmm, you may have a point...

I love Namaste. That song sounds like pure energy to me. When they played it at a Strapping show, it came across very well, perhaps even better than the Strapping material.

With the short 30 minutes opening slot, fine...But when it's headlining time it wouldn't hurt to throw in, say, Namaste as an encore. I'm sure alot of people would dig that. Now if Dev still don't want to play Physistuff....I'll just fuck off.

HAHAH! You know, I was like "AW DAMN!" when I saw on the DVD, they flashed Namaste but didnt play it!

Namaste or Irish Maiden would be sweet.
Of course Jupiter!

Yeah I'm kinda wondering why after Life it said Namaste.
Maybe they were gonna put it in the DVD but just never edited the intro part out or something
But I was a little dissapointed after seeing it flashed on the screen, they didn't play it :?

The word "Recycle" pops up at the end of Earth Day, so it might have just been a tiny little addition.

Bingo...... you are right, sir Dave!

I think "The Complex" would work very well live...

I love Physicist. Anything but "Death."

Though I think it'd be easier to do 'em w/ SYL. You guys think RVP can do Gene's stuff?

If the double kick part of Hypergeek is any indication I'd say that would be a resounding Hell Yeah. Would love to hear the Physicist songs played with the current line-up. Heck since everyone and their mother bitches about the production* on that album just re-record the thing with the DTB.

*evryone 'cept me. One of my favorite Dev releases.

That is exactly why I feel the need to bitch every time. For fuck's sake, they don't even play 'Seventh Wave' any more! Adding Physicist material would be a travesty!

The greatest idea would be to have SYL play Physicist stuff. I would be keener to hear it during an SYL set, especially seeing as that is the exact band that played it on the albums. How about that?

As for tunings, Physicist is in the same tuning as 'AAA' and 'Spirituality', two songs that FUCKING OWN and when I mentioned them playing them again Jed seemed pretty keen, so there could be a potential tie in...

"Seventh Wave" never sounded too good live, at least not the two times I heard it. But yeah, Physicist would fit really well with an SYL set. Except that it's not SYL (one could argue that it should have been, but that's a different argument altogether...).

I will point out again that at at least one or two shows, Strapping did in fact play some Physicist material. "Namaste", "Kingdom", and the intro to "Planet Rain". It was fucking AWESOME.

I think the incentive is that we (or 99% of us) have never seen any of Physicist live. We know Devin can and will play stuff from all of the other albums, but to see something from Physicist would be a very special occasion. We also have live recordings and bootlegs of Devin playing all sorts of songs from all the other albums. Regardless of your opinion on the album itself, it has yet to be properly judged in the live arena. So I think 'travesty' is a bit of a strong word to use.

Now, whether SYL or DTB would be better suited to playing the material...thats a good question. I am sure both could pull it off equally well. After hearing Ryan's performances on NHL and Synchestra I dont think playing Gene's parts would be a problem. And Devin...well, he could probably sing Devin's parts quite well too....

Certainly the SYL guys did all play on the album, and the music leans more towards the SYL sound, but it would be interesting to hear it from either band. Maybe it would blend in a bit better with an SYL setlist...but then again, maybe it would stand out in a DTB one.

Aaaah...who knows. I do agree with Danceswithchickens comment though. I think there is a lot of negative opinions on this album, which is a real shame because I know it would kick arse live. I just hope that Devin and Co. know that the vast majority of his fans would be very interested in hearing this stuff live.

Well said, Mango-Monga.

Now all we got to do is make sure that Dev reads your post

They should eventually do what Opeth is doing now, which is a "night with" show (no opening acts) where they play a few tunes from each record, chronologically.
