I don't believe in religion.

Why fear death?

It's not like I can't get out of my house because I'm scared or anything like that. I used to think that I don't fear death but there's been two or three "Oh shit! This is it..."-moments that have prooved me wrong.

What I'm gonna say next may make me some enemies, or make everyone laugh at me. But I'm excercising my right to voice my opinion.

For years and years starting from when I was a wee lad of about 5, when I started to notice religion and it's effects. (I've always had keen observation skills), I always wondered what the point of it was. I never thought about the meaning of life or anything, like why are we here and stuff like that. I just wondered why people believed in religion. And not because I thought it was wrong to believe in religion, because I didn't think that. But why did people believe in such specific ideals? Anyway, I formed my own opinions based on what I saw around me and the causes and effects that resulted from what I saw. These opinions evolved over time.
Then I found the Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey. When reading it I was extremely surprised to see my own opinions and beliefs in the book. I've read some other things he wrote and it's as if someone was reading my mind before I was born! I may be a 'dabbler', I admit, I'm not the most knowledgable person on the subject of religion, or in Satansm itself. But I have found something to believe in. I'm not a practising satanist, I just believe in the philosophies and ideals that Satanism stands for.


So there's my two-pence!

what rights are they deprived of anyway according to the bible? because I've never found anything that women aren't allowed to do that men are, or anything in particular that says that women can't do certain things that men can do. in all honesty, there are equally as many women in the congregation I go to as men, so they obviously don't feel deprived of anything.

so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

for the corinthians scripture, it may help if you read the verses before to understand it. you may misinterpret the fact also, that god only permits men to do the main role of teaching. it's not restricting women out of their speech, because god is a god of love. plus, pauls words to "keep silent" are not only addressed to women, but to three different groups. the other two groups mentioned in the scriptures before were roles set out for men. now you may say it's restrictive to allow only men to fulfill these roles, but try to remember that the law states that the man is the head of the woman. speaking of that, let's address this matter. the husband is the one who is the head of the household, everything needs to be run by him first, but this only happens when the couple are deciding on something together. it's not nice to go and do something behind your husbands back, or behind your wife's back for that matter, so the two must discuss the matter together first before undertaking it.
going back to the first matter, we need to take into account that paul was writing to a congregation, maybe some of the women in that congregation were challenging what the bible said with incomplete knowledge. it's not only women that do that, but maybe in this circumstance it may be so.
for exodus, polygamy was allowed back then, it's only banned today for certain reasons.
Leviticus, read earlier, back 13-15 kind of way and it addresses other people.
sorry, but I really think you need to read some of the other scriptures before having a go at particular ones.

No, I don't like Richard Dawkins at all. He once said that if you have a faith you're insane. And I've never once heard him come up with a convincing argument to say God doesn't exist. I think it's good for children to be brought up with a faith, but it's their own decision whether or not they carry it on when they come to understand the world. This can be a very hard place to live in and sometimes I understand that people need something deeper. Dawkins is blatently intolerant of religion while never being able to adequately explain why.

I'm going to assume from that response you've never actually read any of his or his like minded colleagues publications then? I must say i'm astonished you think moulding tiny minds to certain beliefs is a more positive action than allowing fully grown adults to make a choice. If children can be raised to believe a fat man in a red suit comes down the chimney they'll believe just about anything.
You say you have never been offered a convincing argument that god doesnt exist i would very much like to know what convincing proof god does exist you have for me? By that logic you must have some kind of concrete evidence to believe?
I have respect for people of faith and wouldnt deny them their comfort in fantasy. Trust me if the religious leaders of the world renounced god tomorrow the world would indeed keep turing.

What about a young baby that needs a transfusion?
