Is it wrong to say I like who he collaborates with as it is? The honest truth is that Dev kinda needs his space to do his music, and he can get plenty of performing parts that are cogs in the machine, but he needs his freedom to pretty much be able to tell people to do what he wants them to do.

I know that sounds like it may be perceived as kind of a douchey thing, but no, not really. It's like when a great director kinda needs to do his own thing and would rather not have his hands tied up with another ego from an actor, when it's really his vision. Yes, all the world's a stage (and we are home again, lulz) and Scorsese could always get somethin good out of De Niro, but he doesn't always need him, y'know? I liken Gene and Byron and Jed to be Dev's De Niro to his Scorsese. Now there are plenty of other people I'd like to see work on a piece of Dev's, but a full collaboration just doesn't seem like it'd be possible. Now Dev said he'd like to play bass for somebody. I'm curious what kind of band he'd like to be in playing bass.

Just my two cents.

hmmm dream collaboration? my dream collaboration would be if i got to work with him! behaaaarrrrrrrrrr

but seriously I'd love an ambient record made by dev and aphex twin, a melodic death metal album with Dane swano (with gene on drums), a pop electro record with Infected mushroom (maybe shpongle instead :/ ),
a symphonic black metal album with Bal~sagoth aannnnnnd if i had a few million dollars lying around I'd pay him so i could record with him, probably the greatest honor of all time, at this given point in music history in the 21st century.

i agree with ricoetc..

ofcoarse its out of the question to expect dev to do any sort of collaboration, especially ones that we suggest. but cmon man lighten up the post IS entitled "DREAM" collaboration, i'm sure you can use your imagination and think of someone that you would spaz out to if you heard dev do something with? ...what band do you think he'll play bass with?

That's cool. I really like what Devin is doing on his own too and hope he keeps on doing it. But once in a while when I'm listening to stuff I think to myself "wow wouldnt it be cool if (blank) did something like this with (blank)" or "if (blank) did a cover of this". Doesnt have to be a whole album or a whole project. Maybe just a song on an album or even like a song that was slapped together one night and posted online for free (Buckethead did this for his Michael Jackson and ODB tributes). But seriously... I would give my middle nut for Devin to sing the original version of Binge and Grab with Buckethead.
