I remember going to a nearby amusement park some years ago. That day served me particularly well as it was the first day I grew a pair and decided to ride my first rollercoaster. After the few minutes of ride time and realizing that rollercoasters kick a tremendous amount of ass, I toured the park for the other coasters. Having taken the crazier ones first, I ended up with my very last one being a smaller, no upside-down (unfortunately) steel coaster near the Arabian section (five kudos if you can tell me what park I was at). To make the ride more interesting, I imagined that there was music playing as the ride got crazier. After this, I rode it again because I wanted to see what it would sound like with "Canada" playing.

i honestly couldn't even rank my favorite devin townsend songs for the most part. i feel like my least favorite of his songs would still be like a 7 out of 10 for me.

personally i'd have TDOM, Triumph and Unity much closer to the top of the list. cool to see you haven't put Bad Devil on there yet, though, i think that's a brilliant song that gets lost in all the acclaim for his more grandiose songs like deadhead/earth day/bastard/etc

all i can say is that you're missing a HUGE chunk of really great songs by only concentrating on the main albums. i'd probably pick 2-3 songs each from the ass-sorted demos, the entire christeen EP & even a handful of songs from cooked on phonics (especially girls next door & Larry's O). plus there's the occassional random track (universal, nerd alert, etc.) i'd even say some of those jams like "so be it" could be included. and obviously SYL could potentially fill up a good chunk, maybe 20% or so, i dunno.

maybe i'm missing the point, that you just wanted to do stuff from the main albums but i feel that you're limiting yourself. personally it's hard to only concentrate on his "solo/dtb" albums as opposed to everything he's ever worked on as a whole. just a thought.

My one and only reason for excluding the bonus tracks: I don't have them all. I don't have them and I'm the kind of anal, obsessive-compulsive person who would feel like they're doing something half-assed if I were to include a few awesome songs I know like "Ocean Machines" and others without including the rest.

I would LOVE to one day do a follow-up list of all of those songs, though.
