Also (unrelated largely), I've been watching some of Dev's recent performances lately...wow, I can't imagine it not hurting, being able to sing like that so consistently. Awesome stuff.

I would find it so hard to undertake something like this, mainly because

a) To compare 100 of anything against each other would be so hard, a lot of things would be tied and it's such a long process!

b) In the amount of time it takes to compile such a list, my opinion would constantly change. I often pick favourite songs or albums, then weeks later move onto something else, then return to the original few, etc.

As much as people bag it, I think it's a really good list. Sure, it's all opinion, but it's strong, valid and you've tried to avoid bias where you can. I can't say I agree with 100% of it, but 100 songs is a lot to agree completely on and I think you're pretty bang on for a fair amount of it. This would be a great guide for people new to the music of Devin Townsend, and for them to quickly get an idea of each album and their landmark songs.

Can't wait for the top 20.

^That was one of my hardest battles: changing opinions. I revised the list many times inbetween its beginning and its final form, so while my opinion will INEVITABLY change at some point, I figure it's cool to document how I feel within an exact moment anyway. With this, it's my most accurate ranking list thus far because I've tended to the music in a way I've never done it before. I'm going to listen to all of my music like this more than likely.

15-11 is posted, and I'm now staring the top ten dead in the face. Thanks to all that have watched and enjoyed so far. It all comes down to this.

(p.s. - I changed the list so that it now renders in four pages instead of one. It's still in descending order, but every 25 songs gets its own page.)

Just a quick update: I may (I say may because I could change my mind at any moment) be taking the top 10 slower, to absorb and revel in the listening for myself. The write-up for song number ten is indeed going up right as we speak, but this is just a heads-up in case anybody wonders why this will have fallen to a slug's pace.

Top 20 is full of excellent choises. Was in the army for 3 weeks (I live in Finland where it's compulsory) and now first time on holiday and first time listening to Dev's music again... Damn, it... sounds... so... fucking... good.

I'd say definitely Earth Day, and Hyperdrive is #5.
I love Bend it Like Bender, but I dunno about it's worthiness in the top 4...have to wait and see!
