I am gonna skip some demo works of bands this year till after the release to see if it has any added benefit. You definately "hear" some things differently if you listen to a demo first and then again later when the final song/production changes etc, and i'm not sure it is necessarily good to do in that order? Am I weird or the only one? Anyone else had this experience or thoughts on it?

Example: I remember listening to Universe in a ball demo on Devs youtube, and it was amazing. Needless to say, the final version is also amazing, but it took a while to get used to because of the bizarre and interesting synths present on the final versions chorus that either weren't present or weren't audible on the youtube rough one. I had a more basic and guitar-heavy sound in my head of how it would be. It turned out even better thankfully, but for a while i wasn't 100% sure. There must be a scientific term for this song re-learning process

I knew it. Genius.

I hadn't posted for a while (real life, takin' a break etc etc, you know the sort of thing) but after seeing the Ghost vid I just had to pop back. Considering it's just beds AND I now read that it's rough mixes of only a couple of weeks work then I'm stunned. This already sounds like both it's own animal on the Devin Musical Farm but one I want on my shelf. Animal on a shelf? - ok, bad analogy choices. I'm not normally impatient as I prefer things to be right more than quick but damn - this stuff bodes well. Especially love the change-up on cutting out of the Blackberry banjocore solo and into the more worked version of the track. Just a  moment.

Devin, just do what you do and it's ready when it's ready. Be happy with it yourself before you even figure us into the equation. It's the only way.

I really like the idea of the stars over the highway for some of the artwork on Ghost - but going by what Dev's said in interviews about the progression of the "character" in the series, and the mood I'm getting from the demo video, I think the best photo for the front cover would just be Dev sitting on the beach staring out to sea, with a guitar, a floppy hat and a thermos of tea. I think it's simple, back down-to-earth after the wild ride of the second and third records.

Nice did you take that? How the hell did you get so close? Under the stage pass?

lol No, I didn't take that. I found it here: http://www.imperiumi.net/index.php?act= ... ws&id=1308

Although large sections of the KLF's Chillout album could lay claim to that genre 20 years ago.

On an entirely different tip: has anyone else noticed in the shot of the drumkit in the studio at 1:06 in the video, there is what looks like an NS-10 woofer suspended in front of the kick. Anyone hazard a guess as to what that is about? Nothing springs to my mind, although I am reminded of a story an old engineer once told me about recording a Sensational Alex Harvey Band album and all of the vocals came through the kick drum mic because AH found it easier to lie down and sing into the kick drum than stand up at his own mic.

Not that I am suggesting anything similar here, of course. It is a speaker, not Dev after all.
