The place to speak about Dev's current projects, and everything yet to come

Wow...where to begin?

Ghost is finished. Totally. I think it's among my finest moments. It's unbelievably beautiful if it catches you in the right mood. Almost absurdly so imo.

However, if it's a hectic, loud day...It's too mellow.

Deconstruction is an epic monster of monumental proportions. I have had to utilize every element of control I've learned lately to not fall back into old habits. And I'm not even talking drugs or booze...just mental headspaces that are intolerant of everything and everybody. It's gratifying to let it take hold, but I've learned that lesson by now, so the struggle makes for a serious dark challenge. Me and my demons will be allys by the end of it. And Ghost is the balance.

If it's a quiet day, Deconstruction is a hulking, screaming, unwelcome beast.

Man, whatever happened to 'just making a record' ?

I'm in a bizzare creative place, and I'm slogging through the technical elements of yet ANOTHER album (Decon)...it seems like I've made album after album after album. It wears me down, but again, I'm prepared for that as well, so all is good.

2011 will be pretty epic. I can't wait for you to hear this music, I need to keep my shit together for 2 more months, then the dtp cycle is complete.

No problem! I need sleep now.

No need for "leaks" There's more than enough on the Youtube channel for the targeted audience to make up it's mind. "Patients is a blah blah blah" Just wait till March-April. The longer you wait, the greater the result (good or bad). I'm not really a 'fan'.....but I gotta admit, pretty exciting stuff, eh

Well that's because you HAVE made album after album after album! But if you're sure you can handle it... That's cool and quite amazing. I don't think there are many, if any, people who can release albums of this scale at this rate.

I'm really excited for the albums as well as seeing you guys live again next year. I'm about to end my military service next month and it's really already looking like next year is going to be a good one, especially since the last 5 months have been pretty miserable for me.

Very excited, since I love folk instruments and Devin's atmospheric work.

To me, this is the best update of all. Looking back at Dev over the years in interviews and photographs, right up and into 'Ki,' he looked like a man spent. He just looked exhausted, and in some instances, sickly. The change that has come over Dev in the last couple of years has been dramatic, and it is all for the positive. There is that one photo floating around from the Tuska shows that demonstrates more than any words can how far Dev has come, emotionally. I know we've all seen it now, but dammit, look at this guy!

Image

There is more joy, more contentment, and more love for what his life has become in that one photo than can ever be put into words. I know Dev was recently looking for the photographer responsible for the series of Tuska photos this pic came from, and I hope it was an attempt to get permission to use this on an album. I think I said it before when these pictures first surfaced, but this should be the cover for 'Ghost.'

Seeing Dev happy and in control has had almost as much impact on me as the music. Knowing just the little bit we know of Dev's struggles with his demons over the years, seeing this turnaround is inspiring.

Devin, it may seem corny and strange, but I am proud of you.

I guess it is about time I got my shit together, too. lol

Wow, 2 months and DTP is complete. Pretty exciting. Hard to imagine since it felt like only yesterday I logged into the forum to see what Devy was up to since disbanding SYL and seeing all this DTP and Ki news I had no idea was going on.

Really looking forward to Ghost now more than ever before. I was really doubtful the way Devy described it before as being the credit roll and his most mellow moments ever but after letting Ki wiggle it's way into my heart I cannot wait for Ghost.

If Deconstruction is anything like Meshuggah I will die a happy man. :guitar:

Devy, could you be a pal and leak a Ghost track for us?
