Except for Strapping... Am I blind?

No, you are not blind. He isn't listed in their roster of artists. I did somehow find most of his non SLY cds for sale in a section on there last night when I was hunting around, but can't seem to figure out now how I got there (I also saw cds from AC/DC and Def Leppard, among many others, so don't go thinking it was Dev's own special section).

EDIT -I figured it out. You click "Specials On CM Distro" at the bottom of the main page, then click "Music" at the top of the new page that comes up. Here's the page that has Dev's cds (no live EP though):

Getting the labels etc put up the free ep turned into 15 people making 20 decisions.

It's coming, it's coming... from now on, I'd love to use SoundCloud. I can have stuff up that day. Everybody wants to get exposure out of it, but it's NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A BIG DEAL.

Faaaakkkk... it's cool they are letting me do it and I understand why business wants to do it this way, but it makes me look like a jackass when I tell people what they tell me and it doesn't happen on schedule. Same thing happened with Rockband and I get so frustrated.

I understand though, I understand...things take time in a democracy.

'any day now' is the answer I'm given. Sorry.

I'll just post this stuff myself from now on... they just get pissed. :(

What are they still arguing about? I mean (AFAIK), the mp3s are done, all parties involved have given permission for it to be released, they know where it's going to be made available... Is it just delayed due to bureaucratics of dinosauric dimensions? Or did someone hide the upload button during the last Friday afternoon corporate binge?

On a slightly related note, are you actually allowed to put random stuff up on SoundCloud without your label's consent/knowing?

I know Dev has a pretty unique relationship with CM. I hope Dev explains it some, but my understanding is that Dev has complete control over his music, and CM is mainly just a distributor. Dev does not require their permission for anything, he can pretty much do whatever he wants, and they can't stop him. They may be able to just drop him if he pisses them off too much, though.

Still, I think it is a good idea to jump through their hoops when they ask. The CM page seems like a great idea all the way around. More exposure, more professional appearing than Soundcloud, and the CM folks are happy. It's good business.

Dev even said they had given him the link...

One of the reasons why I will never understand the
corporate world. Or society as a whole for that matter.

I know that there are technical things and i.t issues etc... the thing that bothers me is that I didn't want there to be too much importance or attention placed on this e.p. The anticipation is making it too big of a deal.

It just shows you how big of a deal the label considers you and your music. They care enough to try and have it presented as best as possible. They take what you do very seriously. That's pretty awesome.

Of course, my cynical side is thinking that somewhere some money is being made off of this, so there are some legal and financial hold ups. If they are giving you a splash page, might there be some sponsors involved?
