Fantastic EP; I love the humor and nerd jokes. I'm also very pleased that he changed his vocal style for Kingdom. Dev has such a wonderful voice and it really shines on the live version of Kingdom.

I agree, especially when you are sharing a bill with other bands, and it's even more important when you are not the headliner. Play the catchiest, most memorable stuff, and make a solid impression.

Also, insulting the crowd is not always the best idea, especially if you no longer resemble that guy in SYL.

Of course, if he really wanted to make an impression, he'd actually throw in an SYL song, just for recognition purposes. Yeah, we know that isn't going to happen, but from a selling point of view, a song like 'Love?' may make a few go "Hey, I've heard this! This is the same guy?"

At the same time, Dev can play whatever the hell he wants. Those that get it will always get it, those that don't never will. As long as he's having a good time, it's all good.

I love the humour. Great stuff and I think Devy can do it if he wants. If anyone remembers anything about seeing an unknown band for the first time it would be a hilarious joke or two.

Really he can play what he wants because all his material is GREAT. Anyone who knows his music will tell you that. I just hope people don't start bashing me because they get the wrong impression. That is that I don't like this EP. I think it kicks ass all over the god damn room and I have already listened to it six times today.

No hard feelings at all man. Everyone has their own opinions. Just don't want people ganging up on me and pointing fingers. Everyone here is great and I have an awesome time coming here and talking about the music.

Heh By Your Command reminds me of the two fo-fur, eyeliner, emo kids standing in front of me bitching about how Dev wasn't heavy at all. When the Ziltoid soundbytes started playing and people were cheering they were all confused and looking around for where it was coming from.

Pfffff, just because Devy doesn't "pig squeal" doesn't mean he isn't heavy. I say pig squeal because i bet those emo kids think that that kind of metal is TRUUUU. Devy has plenty of heavy material available. Hell 80% of his solo stuff is heavy. Maybe not death metal or "pig squeal" worthy of heaviness but it is pretty fucking heavy music.

You know, on most of the dates of that tour, the DTP had a LOT of fans there, and had equal success to BTBAM or Cynic, if not more in some places and for those who didn't know Devin, they left a big big impression (according to everyone who talked to me after the shows). Shows that "sucked" for Dev were shows that sucked for the other bands too... And the sound of the EP doesn't do justice to the heaviness and power of the live performance. Believe me, it was heavy as fuck! Heavy as... a really heavy thing? ;)

I've got a request for the photoshoppers of the board: Could someone please create an album cover for this EP, since it's an unofficial release with no art, etc.? That would be awesome if somebody with skill (unlike me) could throw something together quick!

Here's a cover I made from the tour poster.

Great work folks, thanks for the input! And a big thanks to Dev, Brett and the folks at Century Media/InsideOut for this EP. Cheers!

Hey folks,

Well, here's my submission for potential, fan-made EP covers. As I mentioned earlier, my version of the EP contains the 5 songs plus the 2 bonus ones that Dev released the other day (Terminal & Drench). So, that means that this little EP actually has songs that cover 3 different DTP albums, plus Dev's other material. My goal was to create a cover that reflected all 3 DTP albums, but to have fun with it too, so that it's not exactly like his actual album imagery. I'm pleased to say that all of the images here have been composed with existing DTP imagery - no additions made.
Hope you dig it :)

I think the EP sounds pretty friggin heavy. Of all the things to say about Devy, he's not heavy? WTF? The guitar tone is massive, the drums are crushing...Devy's voice is just amazing. How can you listen to the beginning of "Kingdom" and thing anything other than "Holy Fck, that's some intense sht!!"

So many metal gigs are just a wash of bass drum and indistinct buzz...both the live gig I saw and Brett's mix here show definition - I can actually hear the different parts and it's still heavy. It's why I listen to Devy.

So anyway, cheers again Brett, the mix is great.

Holy shit, I was convinced when I saw it live, but damn is this a reminder of how RVP totally nails the drums for Ziltoid-tracks.

Also, lol @ the clicktrack during By Your Command. :D
