Wow. Thanks for shedding some light on this one. It's very cool to see that Devin is looking into it too. Well, if the prices don't get lowered hopefully the band sees a good percentage of that extra moola. I think a happy medium on those tickets would be $75.

Sigh. Poor Devin - hate that he has to go through all this hassle...
And VIP is $126 here...I so want to go, but my husband is backing out at that price and I feel strange going alone and spending the money on myself...fuck.
Guess I'll wait like the rest of you and see what happens. Sorry Devin, you are worth every penny. Money sucks.

Same thing here, the wife is willing to go 4 hours, but add $130 and it puts an interesting twist on her interest level.

Will be awaiting news on what's to come before commitment though I'll gladly be there either way.

My reaction was the same as it sounds most of yours was, namely excitement as I went to the page followed by my jaw dropping and the sound of a lonely fart escaping me. I had a feeling they would be more expensive this time around than last time, but I wasn't thinking $130 expensive. Now to bring my girlfriend and I would be close to $300 with taxes and that is just really difficult to justify.

Hopefully we get good news!

Exactly the same drill with me. I still think I'll be doing it, but for me and my girlfriend to go it clocks in at like 250 bucks. For Devin I'll totally do it but still pretty steep.

Edit: Dev just tweeted some stuff about it, go look.

Well, it's pretty clear his management still doesn't understand him. In San Francisco there was at least 25 people last time. That will not be the case this time, guaranteed. I'm not saying it should be criminally that ill or that Dev has to go for the old prices, it's just the way this was handled by management, like many other things seems short-sighted.

I'll be able to afford VIP for either here or in London; I'll be doing a London gig instead.

I haven't read anything bar the first post so apologies if I'm repeating someone. Devin seems ridiculously overworked as is and when there's a big demand for something prices go up. It's a business his camp are trying to run and with album sales through the floor I think we should cut em slack.

And to add from my last point in a more general way. Bands nowadays seem to be shifting to the hardcore fans to make up the revenue lost by casual 'fans' illegally downloading. I understand this. This year I've already got signed albums from a number of relatively big artists that would've never happened 15 years ago. There's a proliferation of artists needing to do special packages, VIP stuff and boxsets etc and although sometimes these cool things are outside my price-range (I'm unemployed) generally I think it's a good thing.

If there's already a thread about a discussion, there's not really a need to make another. Cody's just making the forum easier to read for other people.

Nobody is upset with Devin himself. I agree he deserves all the support he can get, but I wonder how much of the money from these jacked up VIP tickets go to him anyway.

People are not complaining that he's not worth it, it's just a matter of whether or not some people can afford to do it. One VIP ticket is probably doable but a lot of us have to buy more than one ticket. So please, speak for yourself "angusruler" and stop making generalizations about people on the forum.

I understand what management said.

Even though I love Devin's music to death, he is not mainstream. You can't apply mainstream VIP ticket pricing structure here.

A $100+ price differential makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.

What's worse is UNTIL I read Devin's tweet, I had no idea what the VIP gives you other than a meet and greet (which btw Devin did for free during the CoB show in NYC).

If I was told me he was doing a full on acoustic set of Ki/Ghost, then at least I can think about it. If I was told that if I get a VIP ticket I get a discount or first dibs on the new boxset, then I would think about it. I know Devin means well, but management here is wrong.

Btw you can meet and greet with Megadeth during the Rockstar festival for FREE (though Dave is pretty much silent before shows).
